HKSPK are a band from Germany that plays a mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their self released 2025 ep "The Human Butcher".
Spoken words start off the ep before going into a heavier direction while t he vocals are a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams. When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard and the ep also adds in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Most of the music also brings in more of a modern style of the genre while one song also adds in a brief use of clean playing and clear singing. Melodies can also be heard at times along with a couple of songs also bringing in a very fast and raw style of black metal and each track also sounds different from each other, when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style as well as the ep also having its brutal moments.
HKSPK plays a musical style that takes black and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in a mixture of German and English and cover blood and gore themes.
In my opinion HKSPK are a very great sounding mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Zur letzten Rauhnacht" and "Nocturnal beheading". 8 out of 10.
