Doom Cult Commando are a band from Germany that plays a very raw and old school form of black metal and this is a review of their 2025 demo "Das Erwachen der Schlange" which will be released in September by Nomad Snakepit Productions.
Dark soundscapes start off the demo before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking which also capture the brutality of war metal at times. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing and the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams.
Most of the music is also very heavily rooted in t he mid 90's and early 2000's era of the genre while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts The vocals also have their diverse moments as well as always keeping it grim and all of the music also sticks to a heavier direction.
Doom Cult Commando plays a style of black metal that is very raw and aggressive in t he old school tradition as ell as adding in a touch of war metal to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in German and cover dark, misanthropic and serpent worship themes.
In my opinion Doom Cult Commando are a very great sounding raw and old school black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Wie die Fliege zum Licht" and "Menschenmull". 8 out of 10.
