Void Ritual/Death Is Peace/Ipos Music/2018 Full Length Review

  New  Mexico's  solo project  Void  Ritual  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  raw  and  hateful  style  of  black  metal  from  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2018  album  "Death  is  Peace"  which  will  be  released  in  August  by  Ipos  Music.

  Acoustic  guitar  playing  starts  off  the  album  before going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  musical  direction  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  utilize  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  a  more  raw  feeling  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  a  couple  of  the  tracks  being  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  second  wave  influences  but  also  sounding  modern  at  the  same  time  and  as  the  album  progresses  melodic  riffing  and  synths  are  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording.

  Void  Ritual  creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  the  raw  and  hateful  style  of  black  metal  from  previous  releases,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  loss,  extreme  anxiety  and  depression  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Void  Ritual  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  hateful  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Given  Unto  The  Water"  and  "In  The  Depths".  8  out  of  10.

Void Ritual/Heretical Wisom/Throats Productions/Tridroid Records/2017 Full Length Review

  Void  Ritual  are  a  solo  project  from  New  Mexico  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  and  hateful  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2017  album  "Heretical  Wisdom"  which  will  be  released  in  August  as  a  joint  effort  between  Tridroid  Records  and  Throats  Productions.

  Clean  guitar  playing  starts  off  the  album  and  they  also  mix  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times  and  once  the  grim  black  metal  screams  kick  in  the  music  goes  into  more  of  a  fast  and  raw  direction  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.

  During  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  the  riffs  use  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  vocals  also  getting  very  deep  at  times  and  a  great  amount  of  90's  second  wave influences  can  be  heard  while  also  sounding  very  modern  at  the  same  time  and  the  riffing  also  uses  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  melodic  chants  are  added  on  the  closing  track.

  Void  Ritual  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  on  this  recordin  that  is  very  aw  and  traditional  sounding,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  yet  powerful  at  the  same  time  while  the  lyrics  cover  death,  suffering,  hatred  and  Occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Void  Ritual  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  hateful  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Flood"  "Heretical  Wisdom"  and  "Nachzehrer".  8  out  of  10.

Barshasketh/Void Ritual/Broken Limbs/2015 Split EP Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  New  Zealand/Scotland's  Barahasketh  and  New  Mexico's  Void  Ritual  which  will  be  released  in  February  by  Broken  Limbs  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Barahasketh  a  band  that  plays  a  very  raw,  melodic  and  occult  form  of  black  metal.

  A  very  dark  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  their  side  of  the  split  along  with  some  guitar  leads  and  grim  screams  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  after  a  couple  of  minutes  the  music  goes  into  a  faster  direction  along  with  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  which  also  leads  up  to  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  after  awhile  acoustic  guitars  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  and  both  of  their  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  with  a  great  sounding  production  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  and  lyrics  that  cover  death,  misanthropy,  occult  and  left  hand  path  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Barshasketh  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  melodic  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Dominion  Of  Ashes".

  Next  up  is  Void  Ritual  a  1  man  band  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  hateful  form  of  black  metal.

  A  very  fast,  raw  and  primitive  old  school  black  metal  sound  starts  off  his  side  of  the  split  along  with  a  good  amount  of  blast  beats  and  deep  yet  screams  which  also  bring  in  a  good  amount  of  high  pitched  shrieks  and  the  music  also  has  a  Swedish  feeling  at  times  and  after  awhile  the  music  starts  adding  in  more  modern  elements  while  the  main  focus  remains  more  on  a  90's  style  and  the  songs  also  stick  to  either  a  fast  or  mid  paced  musical  direction  while  also  having  a  very  dark  and  raw  production  along  with  lyrics  that  cover  bizarre  cults,  their  philosophy  and  theologies  and  the  last  track  closes  with  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing.

  In  my  opinion  Void  Ritual  are  a  very  great  sounding  fast  and  raw  black  metal  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Temple  Of  The  Sun".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  the  raw,  melodic,  and  occult  sides  of  the  black  metal  genre.  8  out  of  10.
