Morokh/Eternal Spring/Zero Hour Recordings/2016 Single Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  track  from  Russia's  Morokh  which  is  in  the  more  shoegaze  orientated  style  of  black  metal  and  on  this  track  they  cover  Russian  poet  and  musician  Egor  Letov  and  the  band  Egor  i Opizdenevshie's  song  "Eternal  Spring"  and  the  single  was  released  in  2016  by  Zero  Hour  Recordings.

  Clean  playing  starts  off  the  track  along  with  some  heavy  riffing  a  few  seconds  alter  while  synths  and  shoegaze  elements  are  also  used  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  angry  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard,  stringed  instruments  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  track  from  Morokh  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  black  metal  and  shoegaze,  you  should  check  out  this  single.  8  out  of  10.

Morokh/The Unholy Masquerade/Zero Hour Recordings/2015 CD Review

  Morokh  are  a  band  from  Moscow,  Russia  that  plays  a  mixture  of  old  school  black  metal  and  hardcore  punk  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "The  Unholy  Masquerade"  which  was  released  by  Zero  Hour  Recordings.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  some  hardcore  style  shouts  and  the  solos  and  leads  also  use  a  great  amount  of  melody.

  Elements  of  black'n'roll  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  touches  of  sludge  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  and  the  music  also  mixes  in  a  great  amount  of  punk  influences  and  some  of  the  tracks  also  bring  in  back  up  gang  shouts and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  melodic  vocals,  clean  guitars  and  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard.

  Morokh  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black  metal,  black'n'roll,  sludge  and  hardcore  punk  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  something  very  different,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism  and  Darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Morokh  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black  metal,  black'n'roll,  sludge  and  hardcore  punk  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Evil  Unchained"  "For  The  Glory  Of  Satan"  "The  Unholy  Masquerade"  and  "Deal  With  The  Devil".  8  out  of  10.
