Délétère/Sarkrista/Opus Blasphematum/Sepulchral Productions/2021 Split Album Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  with  Canada's  Délétère  and  Germany's  Sarkrista  called  "Opus  Blasphematum"  which  will  be  released  in  Decembet  by  Sepulchral  Productions  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Délétère  who  return  with  a  very  raw  and  epic  form  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  sound  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  remain  true  to  a  rawer  direction  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  most  of  their  tracks  are  also  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  and  leads  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  the  songs  also  adding  in a   good  mixture  of  both  old  school  and  modern  influences,  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  their  side  of  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  keyboards  can  also be  heard  on  the  closing  track.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  French  and  cover  Chaos  and  Pestilence  themes   

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Délétère  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  epic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "La  cour  des  fanges".

  Next  up  is  Sarkrista  who  return  with  a  satanic  and  occult  form  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and r aw  sound  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  Western  European  influences  and  all  of t he  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  all  of  the  riffing  being  done  on  power  chords  and  all  of  the  music  also  sticks  to  a  heavier  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism  and  Occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sarkrista  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  satanic  and  occult  black  emtal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Arrival  Of  The  Horned"  and  "Unleash  the  Purging  Fires".  

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  raw,  epic,  satanic  and  occult  black  emtal.  8  out  of  10.

Sarkrista/Sworn To Profound Heresy/Purity Through Fire/2021 CD Review

 

  Sarkrista  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  satanic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "Sworn  To  Profound  Heresy"  which  will  be  released  in  March  by  Purity  Through  Fire.

  A  very  dark  and  ritualistic  synth  orientated  intro  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  Gregorian chants  and  choirs  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking and  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  The  music  also  adds  in  a  good  amount  of  German  and  Finnish  influences  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  The  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic in  length.

  Some  of  the  music  also  goes  back  to  the  90's  second  wave  era  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  at  times  as  well  as  one  of  the  tracks  also  introducing  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  onto  the  recording  and  as  the  album  progresses  clean  playing  and  pianos  can  also  be  heard  briefly,  there  is  also  some  session work  with  members  of  Nocturnal  Depression,  Curse  Upon  A  Prayer  and  Atimateria.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Occultism  and  Blasphemy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sarkrista  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  satanic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sworn  To  Profound  Heresy"  "The  Chosen  Ones  Of  Satan"  and  "A  Whisper  From  Forgotten  Coffins".  8  out  of  10.

Sacrificium Carmen/Sarkrista/Malum/Trinity Of Luciferian Illumination/Purity Through Fire/2018 3 Way Split Album Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  3  way  split  album  between  Finland's  Sacrificium  Carmen,  Malum  and  Germany's  Sarkrista  called "Trinity  Of  Luciferian  Illumination  which  will  be  released  on  November  25th  by  Purity  Through  Fire  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Sacrificium  Carmen  who  return  with  their  satanic  style  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  sound  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  Throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced and  fast  parts  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  along  with  the  music  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  Finnish  tradition,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Finnish  and  cover  Satanism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sacrificium  Carmen  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  satanic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Soihdunkantaja".

  Next  up  is  Sarkrista  who  return  with  their  satanic  form  of  occult  black  metal.

  Their  side  of the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  sound  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  A  great  amount  of  90's  influences  can  also  be  heard  in  the  bands  musical  style while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  music  always  being  very  heavy,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  blasphemy,  occultism  and  satanism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sarkrista  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  satanic  and  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Staring  With  Fiery  Eyes".

  Next  up  is  Malum  a  band  that  plays  a  satanic  form  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  sound  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  as  well  as  the  vocals  being  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  one  of  their  tracks  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  one  track  also  adding  in  a  very  ritualistic  and  demonic  atmosphere,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Mulum  are  a  very  great  sounding  satanic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Opening  The  Gates  of  Cursed  Dimension".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  satanic  and  occult  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.

Sarkrista/Summoners Of The Serpents Wrath/Purity Through Fire/2017 CD Review

  Sarkrista  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  plays  a  satanic  form  of  black  metal  and  this is  a  review  of  their  2017  album  "Summoners  Of  The  Serpents  Wrath"  which  was  released  by  Purity  Through  Fire.

  Rain  and  thunder  sounds  start  off  the  album along  with  some  atmospheric  synths  and  after  the  intro  the  music  goes  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  that  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  after  awhile  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  make  their  presence  known  and  the  music  is  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's.

  Throughout  the  recording  there  is a   great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  at  times  and  none  of  the  songs  ever  use  any  solos  or  leads  along  with  the  tracks  also  sounding  like  they  could  of  easily  been  recorded  and  released  in  the  mid  90's  and  pianos  are  also  used  briefly  along  with  some  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  before  returning  back  to  a  heavier  direction  and  acoustic  guitars  are  added  onto  the  closing  track  briefly.

  Sarkrista  plays  a  style of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw,  traditional  and  satanic  sounding,  the  production  sounds  very  dark,  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  blasphemy,  Occultism  and  Satanism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Sarkrista  are  a  very  great  sounding  satanic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Lurking  Shadows"  "Ascending  From  The  Deep"  and  "Rituals  Of  Flames  And  Skulls".  8  out  of  10.
