1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
We are a band from Santiago de Chile that was formed back in 2021 by bare coincidence. Our motivation for this project was to create black metal with influences of the current international scene of modern extreme metal. However, we wanted to explore something that went beyond what we’ve listened to, so we tried and still try to listen to different music genres and influences, aside from metal itself, to nourish us into something new.
2.So far you have released one album, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?
In our first release we wanted to make black metal as raw and dirty as the sound of the old school and underground black metal scene but with a more exploratory composition and sound.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?
Our demo explores isolation, hatred of human behavior and death. All wrapped in a conceptual aura that is related to the meaning of the name “Kexelür”.
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Kexelür'?
We imagined a concept inspired by sorcery and basic concepts of quantum physics. We imagine ourselves as sorcerers that found a forbidden spell whose invocation reveals the reasons for the extinction of the human race. The spell that we cast… is Kexelür.
5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?
Is the cave where the spell is being casted. We asked the creator Necrolás to express how we cast this spell and he imagined it perfectly.
6.Has the band done any live shows or are open to the idea?
Not yet. We have plans to play live in the near future.
7.The physical copy is going to be released through 'Sun & Moon Records', how did you get in contact with this label?
One of the members of the band has one CD copy from this label and we thought it would be a nice idea to check them out. We saw their trajectory and history and we got interested in contacting them.
8. On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of the more experimental and avant garde side of black metal?
There has been a very good reception at the international level. Fans of the more extravagant and extreme music have received our first release quite well.
9.Do any of the band members have experience playing in other bands?
Yes.
10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
We’re constantly composing music, innovating our sound and trying to break the barriers of creativity. We have a strong concept to be told in future releases, specially in our LPs, as we want to extend our lyrics and history in a concept that we’ve been working on for a long time.
As for the future, we would like to be an influential band in the avant-garde black metal scene and we expect to start playing live performances.
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Jute Gyte, Ustalost, Yellow Eyes, Krallice, Leviathan, Illkynja, Skaphe, Ad Nauseam, Gnaw Their Tongues, Victory Over The Sun, avant garde jazz, and different forms of classical music. We still grab some influences from more classics but those are the ones that have been most influential for us.
We have been listening to the last album of Acausal Intrusion and the only existing release of the dutch project Aastraal.
