Enoid/O Nuit, emporte-moi !/Satanath Records/Australis Records/2023 Full Length Review

 

  Switzerland's  solo  project  Enoid  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  an  atmospheric,  raw  and  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2023  album  "O  Nuit,  emporte-moi  !"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Satanath  and  Australis  Records.

  A  very  fast  and r aw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  and  chaotic  style  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  synths  can  also  be  heard  at  times.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good    mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  music  also  has  its  atmospheric  moments.  Melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  songs  also  mixing  in  influences  from  both  the  modern  and  old  school  era's  of  the  genre,  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  the  closing  track  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  On  this  recording  Enoid  takes  his  raw  and  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal  into  more  of  a  modern  and  atmospheric  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Swiss  and  cover  death,  misanthropy  and  reflections.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Enoid  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric,  misanthropic  and  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  " Pendant  de  longues  nuits  d’angoisse  et de  souffrance"  "Je  les  déchirerais , à  m’en  retourner  l’âme"  and  "Le  corps  de  l’ange  noir  s’offre  aux  langues des  vers".  8 out  of  10.

Enoid/Negation Du Corps/Satanath Records/The Ritual Productions/2020 CD Review

  Switzerland's  solo  project  Enoid  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  raw,  brutal  and  misanthropic  black  metal  style  of  his  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2020  album  "Negation  Du  Corps"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Satanath  Records  and  The  Ritual  Productions.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  bring  in  a great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  which  also  gives  the  more  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  while  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  Some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  music  also  having  its  brutal  moments  as  well as  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  both  old  school  and  modern  influences.

 As  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard,  the  closing  track  is  also  an  instrumental  as  well  as  the  album  also  being  more  melodic  than  the  previous  recordings.    The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  his  native  tongue  and  cover  death,  misanthropy  and  reflection  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Enoid  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw,  brutal  and  misanthropic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dans  le  pays  de  I'oubli"  "Ses  crocs  plantes  dans  ma  chair"  and  "Le  regard  blanc".  8  out  of  10.

Enoid/Livssyklus & Dodssyklus/Grimm Distribution/Final Gate Records/2017 Double Album Compilation Review

  Enoid  are  a  solo  project  from  Switzerland  that  has  had  a  few  album  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  these  recordings  played  a  raw  and  brutal  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2006  and  2007  albums  "Livssklus"  and  "Dodssyklus"  which  was  re-issued  as  a  joint  effort  by  Grimm  Distribution  and  Final  Gate  Records  in  2017  as  a  double  album.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  compilation  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  uses a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  riffs  also  bringing  in  a  small  amount  of  melody.

  Throughout  the  compilation  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful sound  to  them  along  with  a  great  amount  of  second  wave  90's  influences  mid  still  sounding  very  modern  in  the  era  it  was  recorded  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  bring  in  a  very  dark,  raw  and  melodic  style.

  On  the  second  album  the  music  also  continues  the  raw  and  chaotic  approach  to  black  metal  while  also  taking  the  music  into  more  of  a  melodic  direction  without  losing  any  of  the  brutality  along  with  a  brief  noise  style intro  before  returning  back  to  a  heavier  direction  as  well  as  closing  the  compilation  with  two  tracks  that  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  On  both  of  these  albums  Enoid  played  a  style  of  black  metal  that  was  very  raw,  brutal  and  chaotic  sounding  while  also  being  very  melodic  at  the  same  time,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Swiss  and  cover  death,  misanthropy,  and  reflection  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very great  sounding  collection  from  Enoid  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  fast  and  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  compilation  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ecnassian"  "Noitpecnec"  "Edicius"  and  "Dirow  Eht  Kcuf".  8  out  of  10.

Enoid/Exile Aux Confins Des Tourments/Satanath Records/Black Plague Records/2016 CD Review

  Enoid  are  a  solo  project  from  Switzerland  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  form  of  anti  human  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2016  album  "Exile  Aux Confins  Des  Tourments"  which will  be  released  in  May  as  a  joint  effort  between  Satanath  Records and  Black  Plague  Records.

  A  very  dark  soundscape  starts  off  the  album  giving  the  music  an  ambient  feeling  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  direction  that  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and brutal  blast  beats  and  a  few  seconds  later  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  make  their  presence  known  on  the  recording.

  When  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  remain  true  to  a  raw  style  of  black  metal  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  vocals  also  get  very  grim  at  times  while  some  of  the  riffs  and  leads  also  use  morbid  sounding  melodies  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  There  is  also  a  brief  use  of  spoken  words  and  there  is  also a  few  seconds  of  avant  garde  elements  while  the  music  sticks  mostly  to  a  raw  style  of  black  metal  and  on  some  of  the  later  tracks  the  vocals  also get  deeper  in  some  parts  of  the  songs  and  one  song  brings  in  the  screams  of  tortured  souls  and  clean  playing  is  introduced  on  the  last  track  which  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Enoid  creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  the  very  fast  and  raw  style  of  anti  human  black  metal  that  he  is  known  for,  the  production sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  his  native  tongue  cover  death,  misanthropy  and  reflections  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Enoid  and  if you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  anti  human  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ces  Cicatrices  Dans  Mon  Ame"  "Nouveau  Cycle  Destructeur"  and  "Ode  A  La  Haine".  8  out  of  10.

Enoid/Ataraxiis/BlackMetal.com/2009 CD Review

  Enoid  are  a  1  man  band  from  Switzerland  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  primitive  form  of  anti  human  black  metal this  is  a  review  of  their  2009  album  "Ataraxiis"  which  was  released  by  BlackMetal.com.

  Drums  range  from  slow, mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast beats  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid   paced  to  fast  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  raw  and  primitive  sounding  with  some  death  metal  influences  and  dark  sounding  melodies  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  and  there  are  little  to  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.

  Vocals are  mostly  high  pitched  and  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  with  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  samples  and  whispers, while the  lyrics  cover  dark,  hateful,  depressing  and  anti  human  themes  with  a  great  amount  of  misanthropy  being  thrown  into  the  song  writing,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  heavy,  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  Enoid  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  primitive  anti  human  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Darkening  Of  My  Soul"  "Humanicide"  "Slashes"  and "Hopelessness  Overwhelms  Me".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
