Kabexnuv/Dzyan/Bud Metal Records/2017 Full Length Review

  Vancuver  B.C's  Kabexnuv  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  raw  and  atmospheric  style  of  occult  black  metal  from  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2017  album  "Dzyan"  which  was  released  by  Bud  Metal  Records.

  A  very  dark,  heavy  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  the  music  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  old  school tradition.

  A  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  raw  and  melodic  fashion  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  on  a  couple  of  tracks  and  on  the  closing  song  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts  can  be  heard  and  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  ritualistic  feeling.

  Kabexnuv  creates  another  recording  that remains  true  to  the  raw  and  atmospheric  style  of  occult  black  metal  from  previous  releases,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  based  upon  the  writings  of  H.P  Blavatsky.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Kabexnuv  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  atmospheric  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Seven  Sublime  Lords"  "Dyzu  Becomes  Fohat"  and  "Like  A  Thread  Through  Many  Jewels".  8  out  of  10.

Kabexnuv/Crypt Of The Black Solar Order/Bud Metal Records/2015 EP Review

  Kabexnuv  are  a  solo  project  from  British  Columbia,  Canada  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  and  atmospheric  form  of  occult  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2015  ep  "Crypt  Of  the  Black  Solar  Order"  which  was  released  by  Bud  Metal  Records.

  A  very  distorted  and  heavy  guitar  sound  starts  off  the  ep  giving  the  music  a  90's  old  school  black  metal  feeling  and  after  a  few  seconds  grim  screams  start  to  kick  in  which  also  leads  to  the  music  getting  more  fast  and  raw  along  with  some  blast  beats  before  adding  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Elements  of  thrash  can  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  and  when  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  add  more  of  an  old  school  metal  feeling  into  the  songs  and  as  the  ep  progresses  the  music  starts  mixing  in  more  atmospheric  elements  into  the  rawer  sections  of  the  tracks  and  with  the  exception  of the  first  track  the  whole  ep  is  mostly  instrumental.

  Kabexnuv  creates  another  recording  that  is  very  true  to  raw  occult  black  metal  while  also  getting  more  atmospheric  this  time  around,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Ancient  Aryan  Occultism  that  also  shows  Vedic  and  Hyperborean  roots  which   also  has  a  touch  of  Blavatsky  and  the  Thule  Society  philosophies.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording from  Kabexnuv  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  atmospheric  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Caverns  Of  Welesburg".  8.5  out  of  10.

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split album  between Canada's  Kabexnuv  and  Brazil's  Dol  Guldur  called  "Wings  Of  Black  Holocaust"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Kult  Of  Medusa  Productions  and  Bud  Metal   Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Kabexnuv  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  very  raw  style of  occult  black  metal.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  sound  starts  off  his  side  of  the  split  along  with  some  blast  beats  and  grim  screams  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  solos  and  leads  have  more  of  a  melodic  and  modern  style  while  the  rest  of  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  second  wave  style  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  also  bring  in  a  ritualistic  feeling  at  times,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Thelema,  and  Left  Hand  Path  themes.

   In  my  opinion  Kabexnuv  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  occult  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ritual  Of  Horus"  and  "Astral  Telepathy From  The  Damned".

  Next  up  is  Dol  Guldur  a  band  that  plays  a  very  dark and  raw  form  of  black  metal.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  old  school  black  metal  sound  starts  of  their  side  of  the  split  along  with  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  the  musical  style  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  second  wave  style  and  also  uses  grim  and  high  pitched  screams  and  the  songs  also  use  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  you  can  also  hear  a  brief  use  of  classical  guitars  and  all  of  the  songs  avoid  any  modern  influences  and  one  of  the  tracks  also  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts,  the  production  sounds  very  dark,  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  their  native  tongue  and  cover  dark  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Dol  Guldur  are  a  very  great  sounding  dark,  raw  and  old  school  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ostracismo &  Xenofobia  Universal"  and  "O Silencio  Daqui  Pra  Frente".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  the  raw,  old  school  and  occult  black  metal  genres.  8  out  of  10.
