Precaria/Nigraluminiscenia/I, Voidhanger Records/2020 Compilation Album Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Mexico's  Precaria  which  consists  of  the  songs  they  recorded  for  the  2018  split  "Metamorphosphoros"  and  the  previously  reviewed  "Theosulphuros"  as  and  they  are  compiled  on  a  single  album  called  "Nigraluminisceria"  which  will  be  released  in  November  by  I, Voidhanger  Records.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  compilation  along  with  some  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  album  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Evil  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow, mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  When  keyboards  and  ambience  is  utilized  it  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  an  atmospheric  feeling  along  with  some  clean  playing  also  being  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording,  some  of  the  tracks  also  show  the  music  also  capturing  more  of  a  ritualistic  vibe  as  well  as  some  melodic  chants  also  be  utilized  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism  and  Alchemy  with  a  concept  revolving  around  Theion,  the  divine  fire  of  transformation.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  collection  from  Precaria  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  compilation.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ex  Abyssia"  "La  Obra  Negra  Deicida"  "Ex  Nigredo"  and  "Heautontimorumenos".  8  out  of  10.

Precaria/Oros Kau/Theosulphuros/I, Voidhanger Records/2020 Split Album Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Mexico's  Precaria  and  Belgium's  Oros  Kau  called  "Theosulphuros"  which  will  be  released  in  November  by  I,  Voidhangar  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Precaria  a  band  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  goes  for  more  of  an  occult  black  metal  style.

  Their  side  of the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  along  with  some  deep  yet  grim  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later.  Atmospheric  sounding  synths  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Next  up  is  Orus  Kau  a  solo  project  that  plays  an  occult  form  of  black  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  sounds  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  spoken  word  parts  and  melodic  chants  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  ritualistic  feeling.  

  All of  the musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  some  dissonant  structures  at  times.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style   as  well  as  a  couple  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length,  at  times the  vocals  also  adapt  a  more  dark  yet  grim  style  and  synths,  ethnic  instruments,  ritualistic  elements  and  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  on  the  closing  track.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Witchcraft  and  Occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Orus  Kau  are  a  very great  sounding  occult  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split. RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Exorcisme  du  Feu"  and "Solve".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  occult  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.

Precaria/Precaria Ex Humanitas/Desavenencia/CD Review

  Precaria  are  a  band  from  Mexico  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  extreme  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "Precaria  Ex  Humanitas"  which  was  released  by  Desavenencia.

  A  very  fast,  raw  and  lo-fi  black  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  blast  beats  and  a  few  seconds  later  grim  screams  are  added  into  the  music  and  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  amount  of  melody  being  used  in  the  songs  along  with  all  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  the  band  bringing  in  a  lot  of  90's  influences.

  Melodic  chanting  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  bring  in  more  of  a  chaotic  feeling  to  the  recording  while  they  also  have  their  melodic  moments  at  times  along  with  the  screams  getting  more  high  pitched  and  the  few  seconds  of  acoustic  guitars  on  some  of  the  track  add  in  some  atmospheric  elements.

  There  is  a  great  mixture  between  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  present  throughout  the  recording  and  as  the  album  progresses  the  music  gets  more  dark  and  desolate  while  also  keeping  a  very  raw  and  heavy  sound  along  with  the  music  also  bringing  in  a  touch  of  early  2000's  black  metal  and  when  clean  playing  is  added into  one  of  the  tracks  they  also  bring  in  more  of  a  depressive  and  grim  feeling  to  the  bands  musical  sound.

  Precaria  plays  a  very  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  extreme  as  well  as  being  very  true  to  this  genre  and  avoiding  all  modern  trends  to  play  black  metal  the  way  it  is  meant  to  play,  the  production  is  very  dark,  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Spanish  and  cover  Illumination Of  Self,  Occultism,  Hatred,  Mankind's  Misery  and  Chaos  Beyond  Order  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Precaria  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  extreme  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Esturpo  a  la  Conciencia"  and  "Violencia  Como  Pan  De  Cada  Dia".  8  out  of  10.
