  Antania  are  a  duo  from  California  that  plays  a  very  experimental,  avant  garde  and  industrial  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "The  Unholy  333"  which  will  be  released  in october  by  Argonauta  Records.

  Industrial  style  beats  start  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  while  the  bass  guitars  are  used  as  a  lead  instrument.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in  elements  of  doom  and  death  metal  at  times  and  blast  beats  are  also  added  into  faster  sections  of  the  recording.

  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  experimental  and  avant  garde  sounding  while  the  album  also  adds  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Synths  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  along  with  some  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  samples  and  all  of  the  drum  beats  are  also  programmed,  one  song  is  also  an  instrumental  as  well  as  a  later  track  also  introducing  spoken  words  into  the  music.

  On  this  recording  Antania  focuses  more  on  an  avant  garde,  experimental  and  industrial  style  of  black  metal  which  is  also  very  different  from t heir  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  true  crime,  psychological  horror  and  real  life violence.

  This  is  the  final  review  of  a  recording  from  Estonia's  solo  project  Shamorga  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  experimental,  avant  garde  and  progressive  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2026  ep  "Vpuhivprah".

  Clean  playing  and  ritualistic  soundscapes  start  off  the  ep  before  adding  in  some  tortured  sounding  black  emtal  screams  which  also  takes  the  music  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  avant  garde  direction.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  and  experimental  sounding  while  the  guitar  leads  also  add  in  more  of  a  dissonant  style.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  one  track  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  words,  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard,  nndustrial  style  beats  are  also  introduced  on  a  later  track.

  On  this  recording  Shamorg  brings  out  more  of  a  mid  tempo,  experimental,  avant  garde  and  progressive  style  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  esoeric  and  mythological  traditions.

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  avant  garde  direction  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Vocals  are  mostly  tormented  sounding  black  metal  screams  when  they  are  utilized  and  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.

  A  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  guitar  leads  bring  in  a  very  dissonant  style.  At  times  the  music  also  goes  into  more  of  an  experimental  and  atmospheric  direction  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  album  also  adding  in  a good amount  of  blast  beats.

  Synths  are  also  added  on  some  of  the  tracks  along  with  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  ritualistic  chants.  The  album  also  has  its  progressive  moments  as  well  as  some  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  folk  instruments  are  also  used  at  times.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover occultism,  darkness,  nightmare  and  the  infernal.

  Programmed  beats  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  vocals  are mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  when  they  are  used.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  dissonant  and  experimental  sounding  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast beats  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  guitar  leads  adding  in  more  of  darker  style,  stringed  instruments  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  Stringed  instruments  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  recording  also  adding  in a  lot  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Clear  amle  and  female  singing  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  A  lot  of  the  music  goes  into  an  experimental  direction  along  with  the  album  also  having  its  atmospheric  moments  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  post  metal  style.

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  synths  are  also  utilized  at  times.  The  music  also  has  its  experimental  moments  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Vocals  are  a  mixture  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  deeper  growls   which  add  in  a touch  of  the  first  wave  era  while  clear  singing  and  spoken  words  are  also  utilized  at  times.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  guitar  riffing  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard.

  Noktvrnvs  are  a  solo  project  from  Germany  that  plats  a  very  raw  and  experimental  mixture  of  black  and  doom  metal  with  elements  of  noise  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2024  album  "Sonor  Obitvs  Mysterivm."  which  was  released  by  Sect  Entropy.

  Drum  beats  and  ambient  style  synths  start  off  the  album  before  going  into a  heavier  direction  while  the  vocals  are  done  in  more  of  an  angry  black  metal  style.  Elements  of  doom  metal  are  also  added  into  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  the  recording  also  having  its  experimental  moments.

  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  a  couple  of  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  noises  and  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Spain's  Altarage  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  an  experimental  blackened  death  metal  style  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Cogwheel"  which  will  be  released  on  July  31st  as  a  joint  effort  between  Sentient  Ruin  Laboratories  and  Doomentia  Records.

 A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  black  metal  screams  and  death  metal  growls  along  with  the  slower  riffing  also  adding  in  elements  of  doom  metal  and  all  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Touches  of  industrial  metal  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  album  also  adds  in  a  decent  amount  of  brutal  blast  beats.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  recording  also  having  its  experimental  moments  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  guitar  leads  also  bringing  in  more  of  a  darker  style  when  they  are  utilized,  drones  and  soundscapes  can  also  be  heard  on  a  few  tracks  and  one  song  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  clear  singing,  clean  playing  is  also  used  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  apocalyptic  themes.

  Singapore's  Companions  Of  Hellfire  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  very more  of  an  experimental  and  ritualistic  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2026  album  "Profane  Rites  Of  Manifestation".

  Synths  start  off  the  album  and  also  adds  in  a  very  ritualistic  atmosphere  before  adding  in  some  drum  beats,  clear  chants  and  grim  black  metal  screams  which  also  takes  the  music  into  a  darker  direction.  Most  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  more  experimental  and  avant  garde  approach  then  the  previous  releases.

  A  lot  of  the  tracks  also  sound  very  different  from  each  other  while  also  moving away  from  more  traditional  metal  instruments.  When  percussions  are  utilized  they  also  add  in  more  of  a  ritualistic  atmosphere   along  with  the  album  also  adding  in  a  good  amount  of  stringed  and  folk  instruments.  

 Some  of  the  drum  beats  also  add  in  a  touch  of  underground  industrial  as  well  as  a  couple  of  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  the  music  moves  away  from  the  raw  and  melodic  style  of  previous  releases.     The  production  sounds  very  dark  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Rituals  and  Blasphemous  themes.

  Endscape  are  a  duo  from  Ontario,  Canada  that  plays  a  sci-fi  themed  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "First  Contact"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Transcending  Obscurity  Records.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are done  in  more  of  a  deep  growling  style  mixed  in  with  a  few  black  metal  screams  while  the  electronic  sounds  also  add  in  more  of  a  sci-fi  atmosphere  when  they  are  utilized.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  album  also  adds  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  some  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  robotic  orientated  clear  singing,  synths  are  used  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  and  the  music  also  incorporates  elements  of  death  metal  and  industrial.

  Endscape  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  aggressive  and  experimental  as  well  as  adding  in  elements  of  electronic  music,  industrial  and  death  metal  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  science  fiction  themes.

  Saprovore  are  a  solo  project  from  Italy  and  plays  an  atmospheric  and  experimental  of  black,  death  and  industrial  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2026  album  "Numinous  Abditory  Deflagration"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  I,  Voidhanger  Records.

  Industrial  style  beats  and  dissonant  guitar  solos  and  leads  start  off  the  album  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  recording  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Synths  are  also  utilized  at  times  and  the  vocals  and  in  a  mixture  of  black  metal  screams  and  death  metal  growls.

Eldritch/Thalassophobia/2025 EP Review

  This  is  the  final  review  of  a  recording  from  United  Kingdom's  solo  artist  Eldritch  which  shows  the  music  moving  away  from  the  black  metal  style  of  earlier  releases  and  focusing  more  on  a  mixture  of  dark  ambient,  electronic  music,  dungeon  synth  and  experimental  and  the  ep  was  self  released  in  2025  and  called  "Thalassophobia".

  Dungeon  synth  style  synths  start  off  the  ep  while  also  adding  in  a  variety  of  many  different  sounding  keys  and  also  adding  in  elements  of  dark  ambient.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  most  of  the  recording  also  sticking  to  an  instrumental  musical  direction.

  Electronic  sounds  are  also  utilized  at  times  while  the  music  also  has  its  experimental  moments  and  each  track  also  sounds  very  different  from  each  other  and  also  captures  the  atmosphere  of  a  cosmic  horror  movie  soundtrack,  programmed  beats  can  also  be  heard  at  times.

  On  this  recording  Eldritch  moves  away  from  the  black  metal  style  of  earlier  releases  and  focuses  more  on  a mixture  of  dungeon  synth,  dark  ambient,  electronic  music  and  experimental  as  well  as  keeping  everything  instrumental  while  the  song  themes  are  inspired  by  the  writings  of  H.P  Lovecraft.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Eldritch  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  dark  ambient,  dungeon  synth,  electronic  music  and  experimental,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Yuggoth,  The  Warm  Seas"  and  "Twenty-Third  Nebula".  8  out  of  10.

Gomma/Experiment 4.4/Hypnotic Dirge Records/2026 Single Review

 

  Gomma  are  a  solo  project  from  Tunisia  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  very  avant  garde  and  experimental  mixture  of  black  metal  and  Arabic  folk  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2026  single  "Experiment  4.4"  which  was  released  by  Hypnotic  Dirge  Records.

  Synths  start  off  the  single  along  with  some  middle  eastern  style  folk  instruments  a  few  seconds  later  and  the  track  is  also  over  9  minutes  in  length.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  black  metal  screams style  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  some  melodies,  at  times  the  music  also  gets  very  avant  garde  and  experimental  sounding.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  some  chants  also  being  used  briefly  and  clean  playing  is  also  added  towards  the  end.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Folklore  and  Existentialism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  track  from  Gomma  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  avant  garde  and  experimental  black  metal  with  elements  of  Arabic  folk  music,  you  should  check  out  this  single.  8  out  of  10.
