  Brazil's  solo  project  Hate  Gods  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  an  atmospheric ,  dissonant  and  depressive  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2025  album  "VOID".

  Synths  start  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times while  some  of  the  tracks  are  also  instrumentals.  Clear  singing  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  the  vocals   being  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  and  the  riffs  also  add  in  some  dissonant  melodies.

  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Clean  playing  is  also  added  on  some  of  the  songs  along  with  the  recording  also  having  its  depressive  moments,  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  and  raw  tremolo  picking  can  also  be  heard.  

  On  this  recording  Hate  Gods  goes  for  more  of  an  atmospheric,  depressive  and  dissonant  form  of  black  metal  that  is  very  different  from  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and r aw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Portuguese  and  cover  the  abyss  of  human  suffering.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Hate  Gods  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric,  depressive  and  dissonant  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  'Void'  "Meu  Abismo"  "A  Queda  Eterna"  and  "Noctivago".  8  out  of  10.

Hate Gods/Culto à Escuridão/2024 Full Length Review

 

  Brzil's  solo  project  Hate  Gods  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  old  school,  occult  and  satanic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2024  album  "Culto  à  Escuridão".

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  music  also  adds  in  a  lot  of  90's  influences  and  the  solos  and  leads  also  bring  in  more  of  an  old  school  approach.

  A  small  amount  of  melody  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  a  lot  of  the  music  sounds  like  it  could  of  easily  been  recorded  and  released  almost  30  years  ago.  Some  of  the  tracks  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  a  small  amount  of  keyboards  are  added  on  the  closing  track.

  On  this  recording  Hate  Gods  moves  away  from  the  dsbm  style  of  previous  releases  and  goes  for  a  more  traditional,  satanic  and  occult  style  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Portuguese  and  cover  Satanism,  Occultism,  Necronomicon  and  Anti  Christianity  themes.    

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Hate  Gods  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school,  occult  and  satanic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Cavaleiros  do  Inferno"  "Judas  Iscariotes"  "Succubus: Deusa  do  Sexo"  and  "Marcha  dos  Anjos  Caídos:  Crepúsculo  do  Apocalipse".  8  out  of  10.

  Brazil's  solo  project  Hate  Gods  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  an  atmospheric  and  depressive  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2023  album  "A  Morte  é  Amiga".

  Atmospheric  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  clear  singing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  depressive  sounding  black  metal  screams.  Some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized,  one  song  also  introduces  clean  playing  onto  the  album  and  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  album  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  an  instrumental  can  also  be  heard  towards  the  end.

  On  this  recording  Hate  Gods  takes  his  music  into  more  of  an  atmospheric  and  depressive  black  metal  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Portuguese  and  cover  pain,  sadness,  melancholy  and  depression  themes.

  Tragic  sounding  keyboards  start  off  the  single  while  also  adding  in  a  variety  of  many  different  sounding  keys  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  When  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  the  song  also  adding  in  a  good  amount  of  atmospheric  touches.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  depressive  sounding  black  metal  screams  and  all  of  the  music  also  sticks  to  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction.

  On  this  recording  hate  Gods  goes  into  more  of  a  mid  tempo,  depressive  and  atmospheric  style  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Portuguese  and  cover  pain  and  death  themes.

  Brazil's  solo  project  Hate  Gods  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  raw  and  depressive  form  of  black  metal  with  elements  of  ambient  and  medieval  folk  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2022  album  "Face  Inocente".

  Ambient  style  synths  start  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Samples  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  tracks  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  album  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Some  of  the  tracks  are  also  instrumentals  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in  elements  of  medieval  folk  music  at  times  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  raw  yet  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized as  well  as  a  couple  of  tracks  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  melodic vocals  and  chants,  at  times  the  music  also  captures  a  very  lo-fi  atmosphere.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  corruption  of  the  Catholic  Church  and  the  Inquisition  during  the  Middle  Ages.

  Hate  Gods  are  a  solo  project  from  Brazil  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  very  raw,  depressive  and  suicidal  form  of  post  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2022  album  "Filofofia  Depressiva".

  Atmospheric  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  while  also  bringing  in  elements  of  ambient  which  also  mix  in  with  some  of  the  heavier  songs  of  the  tracks  at  times  along  with  some  of  the  songs  also  being  instrumentals.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Hate  Gods  are  a  solo  project  form  Brazil  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric,  ambient,  depressive  and  raw  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2021  album  "Noctivago  Autocidio  Lucifugo".

  Ambient  style  synths  and  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of   the  music  at  times.  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  the  songs  while  the  music  also  has  its  atmospheric  moments  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  grim  yet  depressive  black  metal  screams.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  while  one  of  the  tracks  is  also  over  15  minutes  in  length.  One  of  the  songs  also  adds  in  world  war  II  samples  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.
