1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?
The process of recording this time has been really long for different reasons. The album was finally finished almost one year ago and right now we are focused on promoting it a bit. We've never rehearsed for the sake of it, and actually now it's virtually impossible, so this release is our present and closest future.
2.You have a new album coming out towards the end of July, musically how does it differ from your previous ep?
I think the structures are less crazy and it is overall more concise, more packed. More Heavy Metal, if you know what I mean. For the EP we just improvised riffs while drinking and tried to make them work together, that's what it has some weird shit on it. This time we brought ideas for whole songs already made, so we just had to fix some arrangements, and tried to not have 35 minutes of music that sounds the same all the time. That's why the sound is just a bit less dirty in the mix too.
3.This is also your first release since 2017, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during the time frame?
As I said we started to record it in the summer of 2018, by then it was the only chance we had to have the drums done. Our bass player and singer decided to leave the band around that time, in good terms though, and we had to call in out long time friend L.O. to fill the vocal duties while I took care of the bass in the studio. Anyway, it delayed the whole process more than what we wanted, that's why it took a bit too long between releases.
4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the new release and also how would you describe your progress as songwriters over the years?
Fire, pain, chains, knifes, bombs, destruction... we're guys with a lot of interests. As I said we used to write in a really chaotic way when J.G. and me started the band, mainly because we didn't really knew what we wanted or if it was going to work in any way, we ended up wasted instead of playing most of the time actually. For this recording the rehearsals were as destructive as before but we had songs and a direction to follow already.
5.All of the band members are also involved with other bands, what is it that you bring into the music of 'Krossfyre', that you are not able to do with your other groups?
I'd say we all love good dark melodies in our metal, we're involved in different bands and all of them have that. We wanted to mix fast and primitive riffs with dark and primitive melodies over them.
6.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Krossfyre'?
We took it from a Katharsis song, it fitted with the concept and style of the band.
7.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?
The idea for the cover was in our minds even before having any song for an album. I talked about it with Cintia Mars, the photographer that made it, she liked the idea and we made it happen. She did a great job, better than we could have wished for. I'm pretty sure if we did it ourselves it'd have been a fucking unusable disaster. Also, the layout was also made by our former bass player Alex at Heresie Graphics.
8.Has the band had any opportunities to do any live shows or is this strictly a studio project?
We had a couple of offers to play but we couldn't make it because we had gigs with other bands already. Right now the idea of playing live is fucked up for everybody anyway.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of underground metal?
I think it has been mainly positive, even if I don't follow every single review or anything like that. But releasing with Hells Headbangers has been cool since the beginning too to reach more people.
10.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?
We had a lot of plans with Graveyard that went down the toilet because of the virus, but we'll have news soon, and we're also supposed to play in festivals next year. Balmog just released a fucking great record, EVE, check it out! I think JF has been busy with Körgull the Exterminator too, and probably has done something else this last year. JG joined Proscrito and I think they were rehearsing new songs with Morbid Flesh, and LO and me are working with the Avlivad guys on new songs
11.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
We haven't talk about it. Since it has never been a really active band, in the sense of playing live or rehearsing a lot, we will take it as it comes. Anyway I'm pretty sure if we make new stuff won't sound like Marillion or Yes haha. It'll be the same kind of shit for sure.
12.What bands or musical styles are the band members listening to these days?
I don't know about the other guys, we all are huge fans of 70s and 80s Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. If we are together I'm sure we're going to end up at 5am listening to Malmsteen and Whitesnake. Lately I've been listening a lot to my old punk albums, GBH, Circle Jerks, UK Subs, Peter and the Test Tube Babies, Dead Boys... stuff like that.
