Morknatt/Icarus/Abyssal Sounds Records/2020 EP Review

  Morknatt  are  a  band  from  Spain  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  satanic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  ep  "Icarus"  which  was  released  by  Abyssal  Sounds  Records.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  angry  yet  high  pitched  sounding  black  metal  screams.  The  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  along  with  the  faster  sections  of   the  songs  also  utilize  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  You  can  also  hear  a  lot  of  90's  influences  in  the  bands  musical  style  while  still  sounding  up  to  date.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and fast  parts  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  as  the  ep  progresses  growls  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording. 

  On  this  recording  Morknatt  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw,  melodic  and  traditional  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Misanthropy  and  Anti  Religion  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Morknatt  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  satanic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Hymn  For  The  Goat"  and  "The  Will  Of  Rats".  8  out  of  10.

Morknatt/Victorious Satan/Negar Nit Distro/Abyssmal Sounds Records/2018 CD Review

   Morknatt  are  a  band  from  Spain  that  plays  a  very  satanic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  'Victorious  Satan"  which  will  be  released  on  November  30th  as  a  joint  effort  between  Nigra  Net  Distro  and  Abyssmal  Sounds  Records.

  Drum  beats  start  off  the  album  before  adding  in  some  heavy  riffing  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  riffs  using  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in a  very  melodic  and  raw  style  along  with  some  growls  also  being  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  as  well  as  the  music  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  both  modern  and  old  school  influences,  one  of  the  songs  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  they  close  the  album  with  3  bonus  tracks  which  where  originally  presented  on  their  2016  ep  and  the  music  always  sticks  to  a  very  heavy  and  raw  sound.

  Morknatt  plays  a  style  of  satanic  black  metal  that  is  very  fast,  raw,  melodic  and  traditional  sounding,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Misanthropy  and  Anti  Religion  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Morknatt  are  a  very  great  sounding  satanic  black  metal band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Jesus  Funeral"  'Void"  "Victrious  Satan"  and  Ave  Leviathan".  8  out  of  10.
