Battlestorm Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?

Well, we're still waiting for the album CDs to reach us. I think Colombian mail really fucked things up! At the same time, I've been busy writing new songs for my one-man band LYCANTHROPIC. The rest of the band members are currently busy with their daily lives.

2.Recently you have released a new album, musically how does it differ form the stuff you have released in the past?

It's definitely better executed, heavier and definitely much more technical than the previous releases.

3.This is also your first release since 2015, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during that time frame?

I was busy with the recordings and releases of my other band, NOCTURNIZED, which is now RIP. And Djinn was busy touring with IMPIETY.

4.A lot of your lyrics cover anti religion themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your hatred for religion?

Religion is limiting, and worse, the people who embraced it would shove their ideals upon you. Born in a country where it's multi racial and multi religious, it's fucking asphyxiating. I dont give a fuck if anyone wants to believe in anything but I hate it when they try to talk about their beliefs around me. I think it's all the same everywhere in the world, you'd definitely get what I'm talking about.

5.On the new album you also referenced Tengri and the khans, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in Mongolian Mythology and History?

That was only for one song, Qhagan. I've always wanted to write about the greatest conqueror of the world. Been watching movies about the Mongol empire, reading and watching documentaries how the Mongols had devastated the earth! Mongols and Turk history has always fascinated me.

6.What are some of the other lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored over the years with your music?

I usually write about real life events around the world most of the time, but all written metaphorically to blend with the dark themed music.

7.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

It references to tyrannical titans, conquering the world and devouring all that is holy! This album is meant to be a full on attack!

8.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

I think live performances have improved since Djinn joined the band! We've done live shows as a duo, just me and Iblis, but it just feels incomplete. With me on bass & vocals, and Djinn on guitars, the sound and performance are much more destructive!

9.Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album?

At the moment, not yet, until we found a new drummer. Iblis has left the band after the album was recorded.

10.The new album was self released but the band has worked with a label in the past, are you open to working with another label again in the future?

It all depends, really. Bands will always look forward to better deals. If the label can promote the releases, pay for the recording, and release on all formats of an album, that'd be great!

11.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your newer music by fans of black, death and underground metal?

So far reviews have been positive!

12.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a par tof?

Well, I'm also in LYCANTHROPIC and DEVOUROR, while Djinn is also the guitarist of IMPIETY. All 3 bands have released full albums this year, do check it out!

13.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

It'll just get heavier, faster and much more savage! Brutality aside, the musicianship and writing of lyrics will surpass all from the past!

14.What are some of the bands or musical styles that the band members are currently listening to nowadays?

Nowadays I listen mostly to black metal stuff like Satanic Warmaster, Szron, and Craft, to name a few. And at times I'll listen to Brazilian and Polish death metal such as Azarath, Nephasth, Krisiun and the many likes of it. However, do check out our local band DECIUS, they've released an album so savage, titled Prepare To Die!

15.Does Occultism play any role in your music?

No. And I won't even try to be like some fakes who pretend to be one, when they're not!

16.Beforewe wrap up this interview, do you have any final word or thoughts?

Thanks for this intie! Please check out the band releases that I'm involved in, BATTLESTORM, LYCANTHROPIC & DEVOUROR! Hail and KILL!!!

Battlestorm/Summon Decimation/2022 Full Length Review

Battlestorm  are  a  band  from  Singapore  that  plays  a  very  aggressive  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2022  album  "Summon  Decimation".

Epic  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  elements  of  thrash  metal  can  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

Vocals  are  mostly  black  metal  screams  while  death  metal  growls  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  good  amount  of  melody.  A  lot  of  the  music  also  shows  some  influences  from t he  80's  and  90's  era  mixed  in  with  a  more  modern  day  brutality  and  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  chaotic  yet  melodic  style  along  with  one  of  the  tracks  also  introducing  spoken  word  parts  onto  the  album  as  well  as  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  throat  singing.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Anti  Religion,  Darkness,  Death  and  Hindu  Demonology  themes.

In  my  opinion  Battlestorm  are  a  very  great  sounding  aggressive  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Slaughter  The  Gods"  "The  World's  End"  and  "Rakhshasa  Dominion".  8  out  of  10.
