1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the solo project?
Certainly, "Anachronist" starts from my distant idea of venturing into the depths of black metal and if there is one thing that has always fascinated me about this genre it is exploring its dark and nostalgic side. Despite my dedication to death, death/doom metal over the years, I have always had an interest in 90s black metal. I had accumulated some material that particularly excited me, and so the idea of creating my own black metal project was born, no frills, direct and concise.
2.In June you have an ep coming out, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?
When I compose and record alone, I have the freedom to follow my instincts and choose what sounds good to my ears, without any limits or barriers. This freedom allows me to fully express my creativity and create music that truly reflects me.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you have explored so far with the music?
I say… a journey into the history and religious ideology of past centuries. This work draws inspiration from the ostentation of the riches of the noble class and the contemptuous unscrupulousness with which the rights of poor people were trampled upon. An immersion in a time when monetary power reigned supreme, trampling on every principle of social equity.
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Anachronist'?
yes, "Anachronist" is the term that best suits my person, in my small and narrow social life I am often pointed out as an anachronist, mind you, not always in a derogatory way, but in any case I am a person who loves to remember my past life, tell and pass on stories from my grandparents and people from my lands. I am constantly mentally projected to past uses and mentalities that I can hardly integrate and interact with the modern world. As much as I can, I am determined to keep the legacy of my ancestors alive.
5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the ep cover?
The photo captures the essence of various moods and emotions through the expressions of the women depicted in it. Each of them seems to convey different sensations and moods, creating an atmosphere of warmth and affection, but also of anguish and fear for the future. The presence of only women further accentuates this sensation, representing the maternal figure as the fulcrum of the family. This personal interpretation reflects my vision of the moods of the people involved and the way I imagine the togetherness they convey. In conclusion, the cover photo is open to different interpretations and has no direct specific meaning.
6.With this project you record everything by yourself, are you open to working with other musicians or do you prefer to work solo?
I think it's something really special to be able to create on your own. It's an experience that has always fascinated me, it allows me to be completely myself, free to express my musical essence without external distractions. The freedom to express oneself without restriction is a privilege that I greatly appreciate, so looking forward, I am convinced that in the future I will definitely continue to compose on my own. This is a choice that makes me enthusiastic and allows me to fully explore my creativity
7.The project is from an unknown area do you prefer to keep a lower profile?
My origin is not relevant to my music, I chose not to reveal it, as I believe it does not significantly influence my work. The decision to keep my origin and identity secret is aimed at preserving the essence of my music. I hope my work can be appreciated for what it is, regardless of my roots.
8.The ep is coming out on 'Fiadh Productions', how did you get in contact with this label?
"Fiadh Productions" is a label that is attentive and devoted to the rights of people and animals, issues that are very dear to me and can be shared, so it seemed natural to send them my work for their evaluation. They will take care of the cassette version, the release is scheduled for the end of July.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?
Even if it's very early to say it, I'm quite satisfied with the first reactions to the digital release of the EP, I'm receiving gradual support from fans who are pre-ordering the CD version, some blogs and magazines are requesting and releasing the first reviews. The name "Anachronist" tepidly begins to circulate in the lowest and dirtiest depths of underground black metal, I can only be satisfied for the moment.
10.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see yourself heading into as a musician during the future?
I think so, but I'm not sure of the timing. I will continue to explore the themes covered in "The Fall Of Opulence". I am deeply fascinated by the life, customs and attitudes of ancient historical periods, it is a passion that I intend to follow with determination. No matter what the future holds, I am completely immersed in the past.
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
If there's one thing I love, it's 90s death/black metal. I find it difficult to find new bands that can capture the same energy as back then in the contemporary metal scene. However, there are some bands that still manage to strike my interest, while remaining strongly linked to the metal sound of the 90s. For me it's a difficult bond to break.
