Sarg/Demon/Black Death Production/2022 CD Review

 

  Poland/United  Kingdom's  Sarg  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  raw  and  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  album  "Demon"  which  was  released  by  Black  Death  Production.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  album  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  music  also  adds  in  a  decent  amount  of  old  school  influences.  A  small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  closing  track  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  also  being  a  synth  orientated  instrumental

  On  this  recording  Sarg  remain  true  to  the  raw  and  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal  that  they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  a  concept  album  covering  demon  themes.  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sarg  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  misanthropic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Demon  II"  and  "Demon  V".  8 out  of  10.

Sarg/Totentanz/Black Death Production/2017 CD Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Poland's  solo  project  Sarg  which  is  also  in  the  raw  and  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal  and  the  album  was  released  in  2017  by  Black  Death  Production  and  called "Totentanz".

  Epic  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts   and  samples  being  introduced  onto  the  recording which  also  return  on  later  tracks.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.

When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  tracks  also  adds  in  a  great  amount  of  90's  influences.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  all  of  the  drum  beats  also  being  programmed.

  When  guitar  leads are  utilized  briefly  they  are  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  along  with   one  of  the  tracks  also  being  an  instrumental  and  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  noises  as  well  as  the  closing  track  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  anti  religion,  anti  human  and  anti  life  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sarg  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  misanthropic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "I'  "V'  and  "IX".  8out  of  10.

Sarg/XII - Night Of The Hunt/Black Death Production/2019 CD review

 

  Sarg  are  a  solo  project  from  Poland  that  plays  a  very  misanthropic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  album  "XII  -  Night  Of  The  Hunt" which  was  released  by Black  Death  Production.

  Dark  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  along  with  some voices  in  the  background  while  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  most  of the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  All  of  the  drum  beats  are  also  programmed  along  with  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  the  music  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  90's  influences.

  Synths  also  make  a  return  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  a  brief  use  of  horror  movie  samples  which  also  gives  the music  more  of a ritualistic  atmosphere  as  well  as  all  of  the  heavy  riffing  being  done  on  power  chords  and  avoiding  any  use  of  melody  to focus  on  a  heavier  style  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  guitar  leads  can  also  be  heard.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  evil,  blasphemy,  anti  religion,  anti  human  and  anti  life  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Sarg  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  misanthropic  black  metal solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Old  Blood"  and  "The  Evil  One".  8  out  of  10.
