Vried/Solverv/Indie Recordings/2015 CD Review

Vreid  are  a  band  from  Norway  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  progressive  and  melodic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Solverv"  which  was  released  by  Indie  Recordings.

A  very  dark  and  melodic  black  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  drum  beats  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  at  times  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very powerful  sound  to  them  and  after  awhile  the  music  speeds  up  and  adds  in  grim  screams  along  with  a  more  raw  style  of  the  genre.

Throughout  the  recording  there  is  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  when  synths  are  utilized  they  give  the  songs  more  of  an  atmospheric  feeling  and  the  solos  and  leads  bring  in  more  of  a  hard  rock/heavy  metal  style  to  the  songs  while  still  having  melodic  black  metal  elements  to  them and  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  long  and   epic  in  length  and  as  the  album  progresses  elements  of  thrash  can  be  heard  while  a  later  track  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  regular  singing  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  pagan  metal  feeling  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording.

Vreid  creates  another  album  that  remains  true  to  the  modern  Norwegian  black  metal  sound  while  also  adding  int  more  melody  and  progressive  elements  this  time  around,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Norwegian  and  cover ancestral  Nordic  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Vreid  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Haust"  "Geitskadl"  and  "Fridom  Med  Daudens  Klang".  8  out  of  10.

Vried/V/Indie Recordings 2011 CD Review

Vried are a band from Norway that plays a style that i would describe as being progressive black metal with a rock edge and this is a review of their 2011 album "V" which was released by Indie Recordings.

Drums range from mid paced to fast playing with some blast beats being utilized at times, while the bass playing sounds very professional with riffs that are very easy to hear at times, as for the synths when they re utilized they have a very dark and progressive feel to them.

Rhythm guitars range from mid paced to fast black metal riffs that also have a great amount of thrash and rock influences with a good amount of melody, while he lead guitars are very melodic and progressive sounding solos that have a classic metal feel to them, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they full chords to give the music a dark and progressive feel.

Vocals are very high pitched black metal screams with some clean singing being used on a couple of songs and on one song there is a spoken word passage, while the lyrics cover dark themes with a very nature orientated feel and on  one song there are lyrics about a monotheistic cult and also there seems to be a focus on war, as for the production it has a raw but still very professional sound and you can hear all of the musical instruments on this recording.

In my opinion Vried are a very good progressive black metal band, and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Wolverine Bastards" "Fire On The Mountain" "Welcome o The Aslyum and "Slave". RECOMMENDED BUY.
