Satanic Warmaster/Aamongandr/Werewolf Records/2022 Full Length Review

 

  Finland's  solo  project  Satanic  Warmaster  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  raw  and  satanic  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  hid  2022  album  "Aamongandr"  which  will  be  released  on  December  30th  by  Werewolf  Records.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  as  well  as  the  vocals  also  being  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  some  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing.

  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  one  song  also  introducing synths  into  the  music  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  an  atmospheric  feeling  when  they   are utilized.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Lycanthropy,  Darkness  and  War  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Satanic  Warmaster  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of t his  solo  project,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Bafomet"  and  "Darkness...Triumphator".  8  out  of  10.

Satanic Warmaster/We Are The Worms That Crawl On The Broken Wings Of An Angel/Werewolf Records/2017 Compilation Album Review

  Satanic  Warmaster  are  a  solo  project  from  Finland  that  has  been  around  for  more  than  20  years  and  plays  a  very  raw  form  of  satanic  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2017  compilation  album  "We  Are  The  Worms  That  Crawl  On  The  Broken  Wings  Of  An  Angel"  which  will  be  released  on  December  27th  by  Werewolf  Records.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  compilation  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  a  more  raw  feeling  as  well  as  bringing  in  a  90's second  wave  style.

   Throughout  the  compilation  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  clean  playing  and  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  as  the  compilation  progresses  some  songs also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  melodic  riffing  and  atmospheric  sounding  synths  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length,  melodic  guitar  leads  can  also  be  heard  briefly  on  some  of  the  later  songs  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  flutes  and  spoken  word  parts  closer  to the  end.

  Throughout  this  compilation  Satanic  Warmaster  bring  out  some of  their  best  material  which  is  mostly  done  in  a  very  raw  yet  satanic  black  metal  fashion,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Darkness,  War,  Vampirism and  Lycanthropy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  compilation  from  Satanic  Warmaster  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  solo  project,  you should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "March  Of  The  Legion  Werewolf"  "The  Chant  Of  The  barbarian  Wolves"  "Nameless  Sacrifice"  and  "Black  Metal  Death".  8/5  out  of  10.

Satanic Warmaster/Strength & Honour/Northern Heritage/2001 CD Review

Satanic Warmaster are a band from Finland that plays a very  raw, brutal and atmospheric form of ns/satanic/black metal and this is a review of their 2001 album "Strength & Honour" which was released by Northern Heritage.

Drums range from slow, mid  paced to fast drumming with a lot of brutal sounding blast beats being thrown in at times, while the keyboards have a very dark and atmospheric sound without being to overdone and on the one song they utilize a very dark ambient feeling, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid  paced to fast raw sounding black metal riffs and there are little to no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.

Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics cover Satanism, Lycanthropy and National Socialism, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive feel to it.

In my opinion this was a great album from Satanic Warmaster and if you are a fan of raw and brutal atmospheric ns/satanic/black metal, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A New Black Order" "Strength And Honour" and "Night Of Retribution". RECOMMENDED BUY.
