De Magia Veterum/In Conspectu Divinae Majestasis/2010 EP Review

De  Magia  Veterum  are  a  1  man  band  from  the  Netherlands  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this zine  with  a  musical  style  that  I  would  describe  as  being  experimental  occult  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2010  ep  "In  Conspectu  Divanae  Majestasis.

Drums  range  from  slow,   mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  heavy  riffing that  dominates  throughout  the  recording,  as  for  the  sound  effects  they  bring  a  dark,  avant  garde  and  occult  sound  to  the  ep.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  occult  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  with  a  good  amount  of  melody,  experimental  and  avant  garde  elements  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  dark  and  melodic  sounding  avant  garde  black  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  with  some  deep  demonic  growls  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism  and  Left  Hand  Path  themes,  as  for  the  production it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  while  you  can  still  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  De  Magia  Veterum  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  hunt  down  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Golden  Throne"  and  "Empire  Of  Emptiness".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

De Magia Veterum/The Deification/Transcendental Creations/2012 CD Review

De  Magia  Veterum  are  a  1  man  band  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  with  a  musical  style  that  I  would  describe  as  being  atmospheric  and  experimental  occult  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "The  Deification"  which  was  released by  Transcendental  Creations.

Drums  range  from slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  synths  bring  a  very  atmospheric  sound  to  the  music  with  elements  of  classical  music  being  thrown  into  the  music  as  well as  some  experimental  and  avant  garde  sound  to  the  music  which  gives  the  music  a  more  occult  feeling,  as  for  the  bass  playing  it  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm guitars  range  from slow,   mid  paced  to  fast  black metal  riffs  that  are  very  raw  and  primitive  sounding  at  times  as  well  as  some  dark  sounding  distorted parts  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  with  some  of  the  more  brutal  elements  being  influenced  by  grindcore  while  the  slower  elements  utilize  a  good  amount  of  funeral  doom  influences  and  there  are  little  to  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.

Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  with  some  deeper  growls  and  spoken  word  parts  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Metaphysical  and  Left  Hand  Path  topics,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  recording  from  De  Magia  Veterum  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Thoens"  "Evoked  In  Poison"  and  "Purity".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

De Magia Veterum/The Divine Antithesis/Transcendental Creations/2011 CD Review

De Magia Veterum are a 1 man band from the Netherlands that plays a very avant garde form of raw and primitive black metal and this is a review of their 2011 album "The Divine Antithesis" which was released by Transcendental Creations.

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some brutal blast beats that have an industrial feel, while the synths are very noisy and avant garde, sounding, as or the bass playing it has a very dark and heavy tone to it and at times it has a very powerful sound.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast raw black metal riffs that also mix in alot of avant garde, experimental and noise influences with a great amount of distorted riffing, and there are little to no guitar solos or leads present on the recording.

Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams mixed in with alot of distorted sounding vocals, while the lyrics cover Occultism, Biblical Issues, and Misanthropy, as for the production it has a very dark, heavy and raw feel to it.

In my opinion De Magia Veterum are a very good raw, occultic and avant garde black metal band, and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Stench Of Burning Wings" "The Heavens" and "Angelical Deformity". RECOMMENDED BUY.
