Universal Disorder/Act III: Of Emerging Chaos And Times Forgotten/2021 EP Review

 

  Finland/Sweden's  Universal  Disorder  are  an  international  duo  that h as  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2021  ep  "Act  III:  Of  Emerging  Chaos  And  Times  Forgotten".

  Clean  playing  starts  off  the  ep  while  spoken  word  parts  can  be  heard  briefly  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  angry  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  Both  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  Spoken  word  parts  and  clear  vocals  can  be  heard  briefly  along  with  the  music  also  having  its  atmospheric  moments  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in    a  very  melodic  style,  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow, mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  On  this  recording  Universal  Disorder  remains  true  to  the  atmospheric  side  of  black  metal  that they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while t he  lyrics  cover  chaos  that  runs  through  the  universe.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Universal  Disorder  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "An  Eternal  Balancing  Of  the  Scale".  8  out  of  10.

Universal Disorder/Act II-Existential Glimpses Of Chaos And Order In A Cosmic Womb/Burning Skull Records/2020 EP Review

  Universal  Disorder  are  a  duo  with  members  from  Sweden  and  Finland  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  ep  "Act II-Existential  Glimpses  Of  Chaos  And  Order  In  A  Cosmic  Womb"  which  was  released  by  Burning  Skull  Records.

  Clean  playing  starts  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  which  also  have  a  depressive  edge  at  times.  Both  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  some  dark  sounding  melodies  also  being  utilized  at  times.

  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard in  some  parts  of  the  recording  while  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  in  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  along  with  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  the  guitar  leads  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style,  clean  playing  is  also  brought  onto  the  second  song  and  clear  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  Universal  Disorder  plays  a  style  black  metal  that  is  very  atmospheric  and  modern  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Chaos  that  runs  through  the  universe.

  In  my  opinion  Universal  Disorder  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  black  metal  duo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  thie  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "As  The  Eternal  Secrets  Of  The  Cosmos  Unfold".  8 out  of  10.
