Wampyric Rites/Moloch/The Serpent Cult Of Darkness/Inferna Profundus Records/2023 Full Length Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Ecuador's  Wampyric  Rites  and  Ukraine's  Moloch  called  "The  Serpent  Cult  Of  Darkness"  which  will  be  released  in  June  by  Inferna  Profundus  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Wampyric  Rites  who  returns  with  their  raw  and  vampyric  style  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  wind  sounds  and  clean  playing  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  both  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  vocals  also  having  their  deep  and  grim  moments.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  as  well  as  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Vampirism  and  Darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Wampyric  Rites  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  vampyric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "The  Mystical  Singing  Of  The  Lone  Wolf  In  A  Cold  Forest.

  Next  up  is  Moloch  who  returns  with  their  raw  and  atmospheric  style  of  ambient  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  ambient  style  synths  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times  while  most  of  their  tracks  are  also  instrumentals.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  sounding  black  metal  screams  along  with  some  melody  also  being  added  into t he  guitar  riffing. 

  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  song  also  adds  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  which  also  gives  their  side  of  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  unholy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Moloch  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  atmospheric  ambient  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  Enthroned!  Thy  Unholy  Spirit!".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  ambient,  atmospheric,  raw  and  vampyric  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.

Ieschure/Moloch/Among The Swamps And Darkness/Hate & Murder Productions/2022 Split Album Review

 

  This  is  a  review  if  a  split  album  between  Ukraine's  Ieschure  and  Moloch  called  "Among  The  Swamps  And  Darkness"  which  was  released  in  2022  by  Hate  &  Murder  Productions  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Moloch  who  returns  with her  occult  style  of  black  metal.

  Her  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  ambient  style  keyboards  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  music  captures  a  very  lo-fi  atmosphere  at  times.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  her  side  of  the  split  also  closes  with  an  instrumental.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  and  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Witchcraft  and  Death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding recording  from  Ieschure  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  her  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "In  Circles  of  Time"  and  "Among  The  Swamps  And  Darkness".

  Next  up  is  Moloch  who  return  with  their  ambient  style  of  depressive  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  ambient  style  synths  which  also  returns  on  the  closing  track  which  is  also  an  instrumental.  Vocals  are  done  in  mostly  a  tortured  yet  depressive  black  metal  style  while  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length,  melodies  can  be  heard  briefly  and  all  of  the  music  sticks  to  a  slower  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Darkness  and  Desolation  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Moloch  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  ambient  and  depressive  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Lord  Of  The  Dying  Sun".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  Ukrainian  black  metal.  8 out  of  10.

Moloch/Gurthang/Give Praise Records/2016 Split EP Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  Ukraine's  Moloch  and  Poland's  Gurthang  which  was  released  by  Give  Praise  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Moloch  a  solo  project  that  has   had  plenty  of  material  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  depressive  form  of  black  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  ambient  style  synths  and  on  the  second  track  the  ambient  eelments  start  mixing  in  with  a  heavier  guitar sound  which  also  introduces  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams  onto  the  recording  and  some  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  and  the  song  also  sticks  to  a  very  slow  musical  direction,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and r aw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Ukrainian  and  cover  dark  and  depressive  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Moloch  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  depressive  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.

  Next  up is  Gurthang  a  band  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  black  and  funeral  doom  metal.

 Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  and  heavy  guitar  sound  along  with  some  atmospheric  synths  and  you  can  also  hear  some  melodies  and  elements  of  funeral  doom  metal  in  the  music  and  there  is  also  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  being  utilized  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sound  very  powerful  and  the  vocals  are  grim  black  metal  screams  and  the  whole  song  also  sticks  to  a  slow  musical  production  while  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  can  be  heard,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  depressive  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  song  from  Gurthang  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  metal  and  funeral  doom,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  depressive  black  metal  and  funeral  doom  metal.  8  out of  10.

Moloch/Verwustung/Human To Dust/2014 CD Review

  Moloch  are  a  one  man  band  from  Ukraine  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  ambient  and  depressive  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2014  album  "Verwustung"  which  was  released  by  Human  To  Dust.

  The  album  starts  out  with  ambient  drones  which  also  brings  a dark  and  atmospheric  feeling to  the  recording  and  after  the  first  track  the  music  goes  into  a  more  fast  and  raw  black  metal  direction  along  with  blast  beats  and  grim,  depressive  screams  as  well  as  bringing  in  a  mixture  of  slow  and  fast  parts  and  you  can  also  hear  a  good  amount  of  melody  in  the  music  and  after  awhile  clean  playing  is  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording.

  When  we  get  more  into  the  album  the  music  starts  adding  in  more  slower  parts  which  also  enhance  the  darkness  of  the  recording  as  well  as bringing  in  atmospheric  sounding synths  at  times  and  the  music  still  retains  a  great  amount  of  fast  parts  along  with the  vocals  having  a  more  suicidal  feeling to  them  and  the  music  also  incorporates  a  great  amount  of  old  school  black  metal  elements  while  always  having  a  dark  atmosphere.

   By  the  time  the  album  gets  into  the  seventh  track  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  is  brought  into  the  album  before  going  into  a  more  slow  and  depressive  suicidal  black  metal  direction  along  with  a  mixture  of  screams  and  cries  and  on  the  following  track  the  music  goes into  a  more  avant  garde  classical  direction  with  the  track  being  a  remake  of   a  Frederic  Chopin  piece  will  also  being  more  dark  and  modern  than  the  original  version  and  the  ambient  side  of  this  project  really  shines  through  on  this  song  and  the  following  track  is  a  demo  track  that  returns  the  music  back  to  black  metal  as  well  as  being  the  last  song  on  this  album.

  With  this  album  Moloch  cut  back  on  the  dark  ambient  parts  of  the  previous  recordings  while  still  utilizing  them  in  some  parts  and  creates  a  more  straight  forward  depressive  black  metal  sound  with  this  recording  along  with  lyrics  covering  nature,  depression  and  individualism  and  having  a  very  dark,  raw  and  heavy  production.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Moloch  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  depressive  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Todestille"  "Negativitat"  "Die  Kalte  der  Ewigkeit"  and  "Nur  de  Tod  ist  wiklich".  8  out  of  10.

Moloch/llusionen eines verlorenen Lebens/Glorious North Productions/2011 CD Review

 Moloch are a 1 man project from Ukraine that plays a very depressive from of ambient black metal and this is a review of their 2011 album "llusionen eines verlorenen Lebens" which was released by Glorious North Productions.

Drum programming ranges from slow to mid paced beats with not much in the way of fast parts or blast beats, while the synths have a very dark ambient and depressive sound to them, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.

Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced depressive ambient black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.

Vocals are a mixture of depressive black metal screams and spoken word parts, while the lyrics are written in Ukrainian and cover nature, depression and individualism, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.

In my opinion Moloch are a very great sounding ambient/depressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ein düsterer Winter kommt ll" "Weg von dieser Welt voller Traurigkeit" and "Abgrund meines Wesens". RECOMMENDED BUY.
