Mork Gryning where a band from Sweden that has also had an album reviewed before in this zine and played a very melodic style of Swedish black metal and this is a review of their 1995 album "Tusen ar har gatt" which was re-issued in 2015 by Eisenwald.
A very epic sounding keyboard starts off the album along with a brief use of spoken word samples and after the intro the music goes into a very fast, raw and melodic black metal direction along with some blast beats while the solos and leads also use a great amount of melody while the vocals are very grim yet high pitched black metal screams.
All of the songs are in the 90's style of Swedish black metal and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and they also mix the keyboards in with the heavier sections of the music and clean playing and classical guitars can also be heard in certain sections of the recording.
When deep vocals are utilized they give the music a touch of death metal and spoken word parts can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and they also bring in a brief acoustic instrumental before making a return to vocal tracks and there is also a few seconds of melodic singing on one of the songs and the demo songs that are present here have more of a raw feeling.
Mork Gryning played a style of black metal that was very dark, raw, melodic and atmospheric for its time, the production has a sound that was considered professional for the 90's while the lyrics are written in English and Swedish and covers a concept story based upon Nidas, Eldon, Erin and Cahn.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding recording from Mork Gryning and if you are a fan of 90's Swedish black metal, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Journey" "Unleash The Beast" and "The Final Battle". 8 out of 10.
