Mesarthim/Arrival/Avantgarde Music/2023 Full Length Review

 

  Australia's  Mesarthim  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  an  atmospheric,  cosmic  and  psychedelic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  album  "Arrival"  which  will  be  released  on  May  26th  by  Avantgarde  Music.

  Atmospheric  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  along  with  the  music  also  having  its  cosmic  and  psychedelic  moments  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  Elements  of  trance  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  album  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  some  of  the  tracks  also  being  brief  instrumental  interludes.

   spoken  word  parts  can  also are  also  added  on  a  couple  of  tracks  and  throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  touches  of  electronica  and  ambient  can  also  be  heard  at  times.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  cosmos  and  existence  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Mesarthim  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric,  cosmic  and  psychedelic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Arrival,  Pt.  2"  "Arrival,  Pt.  6"  and  "Type  IV".  8  out  of  10.

  Mesarthim  are  a  duo  from  Australia  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture of  trance  and  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "- " .- -... ... . - . -. - . ."  which  will  be  released  on  October  15th  by Avantgarde  Music.

  A  very  atmospheric,  heavy  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  synths  also  being  mixed  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  and  after  awhile  black  metal  screams  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  the  recording  there  is  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  modern,  atmospheric  and  melodic  style  and  a great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  music  also  mixes  in  elements  of  ambient  and  trance  and  they  also  bring  in  a  brief  instrumental  before  returning  back  to  a  heavier  direction  on  the  last  2  tracks.

  Mesarthim  creates  another  album  that  sticks  to  the  atmospheric  style  of  black  metal  from  previous recordings  while  also  keeping  around  the  ambient  and  trance  influences,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  cosmos  and  existence  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  another  great  sounding  album  from  Mesarthim  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  trance  influenced  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "..---"  and  "-....".  8  out  of  10.

Mesarthim/Pillars/Avantgarde Music/2016 EP Review

  Mesarthim  are  a  band  from  Australia  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  ep  "Pillars"  which  was  released  by  Avantgarde  Music.

  Atmospheric  sounds  start  off  the  ep  along  with  the  music  getting  heavier  a  few  seconds  later  and  mixing  it  in  with  ambient  style  synths  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  an  epic  feeling  and  after  awhile  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  make  their  presence  known  on  the  recording  and  the  riffs  also  use  a  great  amount  of  melody.

 Elements  of  electronic  music  can  be  heard quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  stick  to  a  very  melodic  musical  direction  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  all  of  the  songs  stick  to  a   slow  musical direction  and  also  mixes  in  symphonic  elements  and  they  close  the  ep  with  an  instrumental  track.

  Mesarthim  creates  another  black  metal  recording  that  is  very  atmospheric  while  also  mixing  in elements  of  ambient  and  electronic  music,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  cosmos  and  existence  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Meserthim  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  and  ambient  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Pillars"  and  "Constellation".  8  out  of  10.

Mesarthim/Isolate/Avantgarde Music/2016 CD Review

  Mesarthim  are  a duo  from  Australia  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  and  depressive  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Isolate"  which  was  released  by  Avantgarde  Music.

  Ambient  and  space  music  sounds  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavy  and  atmospheric  music  direction  a  few  seconds  later  that  also  sees  high pitched  black  metal  screams  making  their  presence  known  on  the recording  and  they  also  have  a  very  depressive  tone  to  them  and  they  also  mix  in  tragic  sounding  keyboards.

  Most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  melodic  edge  and  they  also  mix  in  elements  of  synth  pop  and  electronic  music  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  the  songs  stick  to  mostly  a  slow  or  mid  paced  musical  direction  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of spoken  word  parts  and  they close  the  album  with  a  couple  of  instrumental  songs.

  Mesarthem  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  keyboard  driven,  atmospheric  and  depressive  while  also  mixing  in elements  of  ambient  and  space  music  to  create  a  style  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics cover  cosmos  and  Existence  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Mesarthem  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  and  depressive  black  metal  band  and  if  you  area  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album. RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Declaration"  and "Abyss". 8  out  of  10.
