Gort/Humanitas Dolor Mundi/Vacula Productions/2021 CD Review

 

  Italy's  Gort  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  raw  and  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal  from  their  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "Humanitas  Dolor  mundi"  which  was  released  by  Vacula  Productions.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  vocals a re  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  The  music  also  adds  in  a  great  amount  of  old  school  influences  while  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  Some  of  the  tracks  also  bring  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  music  focusing  mostly  on  the  faster  style  as  well  as  a  couple  of  the  tracks  also  being  long  and  epic  in  length  and  all  of  the  music  also  sticks  to a  heavier  direction,  one  track  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  vocals  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  finally  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  chaotic  style.

  On  this  recording  Gort  remains  true  to  the  raw  and  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal  that  they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  hate,  war,  destruction  and  misanthropy  themes.   

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Gort  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  misanthropic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "On  Blackened  Soil"  "Negative  Delusion"  and  "Eternal  Denail".  8  out  of  10.

Gort/A Mort Ad Mortem/Lupus Niger Prod. And Distro/2017 EP Review

  Gort  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  and  misanthropic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  ep  "A  Morte  Ad  Mortem"  which  will  be  released  in  November  by  Lupus  Niger  Prod.  And  Distro.

  Ritualistic  soundscapes  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  music  also  has a  lot of  90's  influences.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  depressive  melodies  and  death  metal  growls  can  also  be  heard  briefly,  most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  in  the  background  briefly.

  Gort  creates  another  recording  that  remains  very  true  to  the  raw  and  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal from  previous releases,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  hate,  war,  destruction  and  misanthropy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Gort  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  misanthropic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Black  Glorification"  and  "The  Last  Flight  Of  The  Crow".  8  out  of  10.

Gort/Pestiferous Worms Miasma/Lupus Niger Prod. And Distro/2016 CD Review

  Gort  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  misanthropic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Pestiferous  Worms  Miasma"  which  was  released  by  Lupus  Niger Prod.  And  Distro.

    Atmospheric  synths  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  acoustic  guitars  a  few  seconds  later  before  going  into  more  of  a  dark,  heavy  and  melodic  direction  which  also  introduces  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  onto  the  recording  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  direction  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  music  is  more  rooted  in  the  old  school  second  wave  style  of  the  genre  and  as  the album  progresses  some  songs  also  mix  in  more  of  a  depressive  vibe  and  clean  playing  is  also  introduced  on  a  few  later  tracks  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  clean singing  on  a  couple  of  songs  and  growls  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  whispers  are  introduced  on  the  last  track.

  Gort  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  misanthropic  sounding  while  also  not  afraid  to  adding  different  things  into  their  style,  the  production  sounds  very  dark,  heavy  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  hate,  war,  destruction  and  misanthropy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Gort  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  misanthropic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Old  Bleeding  Scars"  "The  Misanthrope"  and  "Dawn  Of  Worms".  8  out  of  10.
