Human Serpent/Isolert/Everything Dies/Death Prayer Records/2022 Collaboration EP Review

This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  Greece's  Human  Serpent  and  Isolert  that  shows  them  teaming  up  together  and  mixing  their  own  styles  of  raw  and  misanthropic  black  metal  together  and  the  ep  was  released  in  2017  by  Death  Prayer  Records  and  called  "Everything  Dies".

High  pitched  black  metal  screams  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utiliz3es  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  The  only  track  that  is  presented  on  the  recording  is  also  over  20  minutes  in  length  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

Angry  shouts  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  song  also  adds  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Depressive  touches  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  screams  along  with  the  music  also  having  its  repetitive  moments  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies,  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  yet  old  school  style  and  the  whole  track  sticks  to  a  very  heavy  and  raw  direction,  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  towards  the  end.

On  this  recording  Isolert  and  Human  Serpent  takes  both  of  their  raw  and  misanthropic  approaches  and  mixes  them  together  to  c5reate  a  very  heavy,  fast  and  aggressive  recording.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and r aw  while  the  lyrics  cover  misanthropy  and  death  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  collaboration  from  Human  Serpent  and  Isolert  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  misanthropic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  8out  of  10.

High  pitched  black  metal  screams  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  At  times  the  vocals  also  get  more  angry  and  deep  sounding  while  a  small  amount  of  melody  is  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.

When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  chaotic  style  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  music  also  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  90's  influences  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  the  guitar  leads  also  getting  more  melodic  on  later  songs,  one  track  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  piano's  and  clean  playing  and  the  closing  song  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

On  this  recording  Human  Serpent  remains  true  to  the  raw  and  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal  that  they  had  established  and  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  misanthropy  and  nihilism  themes.

Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  and  melodic  black  metal  sound  before  adding  in  more  raw  aggression  and  grim  yet  hateful  screams  which  also  leads  up  to  the  music  bringing  in  more  blast  beats  as  well  as  using  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  after  awhile  the  music  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  melodic  Gregorian  chants  on  both  songs  and  the  second  track  is  8  minutes  in  length  and  also  remains  true  to  the  raw  and  misanthropic  style  of  the  bands  musical  style  while  also  utilizing  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  towards the  end,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark,  violent,  hateful  and  misanthropic  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Human  Serpent  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  misanthropic  black  metal  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Chapel  of  Bones".

Human  Serpent  are  a  band  from  Greece  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw,  old  school  and  misanthropic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "The  Gradual  Immersion  In  Nihilism"  which  was  released  by  Death  kneel  Productions.

A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  melodies  before  going  into  more  of  a  fast  and  raw  black  metal  direction  which  also  shows  the  band  adding  in  a  good  amount  of  blast  beats  and  hateful  screams  as  well  as  bringing  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

Melodic  chants  can  be  heard  for  a  few  seconds  on  a  couple  of  the  tracks  and  the  bands  musical  style  is  more  close  to  the  90's  style  of  black  metal  with  all  the  tracks  being  in  a  very  pure  and  true  style  of  this  genre  and  all  of  the  songs  on  the  recording  ignore  any  of  the  modern  styling's  of  this  genre  and  goes  back  to  the  way  this  musical  style  is  supposed  to  be  played  and  you  can  feel  a  great  amount  of  anger,  depression  and  hate  being  evoked  throughout  all  of  the  tracks  that  are  present  on  this  recording  and  there  is  never  a  soft  or  weak  moment  to  be  heard  and  they  also  close  the  album  with  a  track  that  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

Human  Serpent  creates  a  very  raw  and  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal  on  this  recording  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  into  their  approach  to  the  old  school  side  of  the  genre,  the  production  sounds  very  dark,  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  misanthropic,  dark,  anti  human  and  nihilism  themes.

Human Serpent Interview

1. For those that have never heard of you before. can you tell us a little bit about the musical project?
-We are Human Serpent from Greece. Idealogically we identify ourselves with Black Metal which we follow since 2006 and as a band the activities begun at the last months of 2012. Our position as a band is ideological and not musical.
2.How would you describe the musical sound that is present on the demo?

- Oldschool, raw, bestial, monolithic, rotten and aggressive.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects both of your songs cover on the demo?

-It is evident that the lyrics follow a minimalistic pattern and they aim towards every direction possible. Also some of the main themes in our lyrics are: our contradiction towards every aspect of the organised religions, total nihilism and every thing that makes humanity an unrecyclable piece of garbage and accelerates it's downfall and demise.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name Human Serpent?

- "Human Serpent" has a certain meaning and weight in the Occult circle although its meaning can have different names in different castes. For some moronic people it means just a human in a serpent-like form, but for us "Human Serpent" represents the organic purification that substantially breeds a spiritual pursuit, outside the narrow borders of anything that bears light or darkness.

5.Currently there are only 2 members in the project, are you open to working with other musicians or do you choose to reaming a duo?

- For the past years we have been part of other bands and as a result we have co-operated with many people. None of them had an ideological view of life and all they cared about is how to get laid. The bands consists of 2 people because there is a big amount of communion between us and also because we have grown tired of dealing with the wrong people. Of course at the beginning it was extremely hard to cope with the responsibilities of the band as a duo but with hard work we managed to find the right balance. In the upcoming full-length there will be a person that is very close to us that will offer his help in the rehearsals, playing the bass. It is not clear yet if he will be the one to record the bass. Also if there is an opportunity for a live gig he will provide us with his help. In conclusion, the band will remain as a duo and will seek help from session members only for live gigs.

6.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

-Just a few days ago we made a deal for the release of our debut full-length, with a Russian label, called "DEATH KNELL PRODUCTIONS". The release is scheduled to take place in the mid 2014. The release will be in a digipack form as well. There is also a deal with a French label, called INFERNAL KOMMANDO Records. This deal is the re-release of our promotional demo "The Eternal Loyalty To Misanthropy" in Limited black tape format.

7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?

The 300 self-released copies of our promotional demo are nearly sold-out. We have come to the conclusion that people from other countries showed much more interest, supporting us and buying our demo. On the other hand, our fellow countrymen had even hostile attitude towards our very first work, there were many exception of course. It is known now that the people from your own country will never help you or support you, however, they will try to hold you down, to demean you and your work and they will do their best to prevent you from expressing yourself.

8.Are there any other musical projects besides this band?

- There is nothing that can be considered serious for the reasons that we mentioned before in your question about Human Serpent being a 2-men band.

9.What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

- We want to maintain the ideological status of the band. The minimalism, the hatred and the aggression.

10.What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

-We are influenced by Metal as a whole, we listen to Metal and we serve Black Metal. We are big fans of the Norwegian, the Finnish, the Swedish and The French scenes. Each Human Serpent member has his own influences and his own "favorite" bands that make the band sound and be what it is today.

11.Does Satanism or Occultism play any role in your music?

- We do not want to label ourselves. As we mentioned before our position as a band is ideological and not musical. There is a certain form of propaganda in our very own existence, there are messages and a view of life that has its foundation deep within our souls and the experiences that each of us had in their personal life. The search deep within ourselves is our main concern, anything that can make us come a step closer to an understanding is trully welcome. FUCK OFF to those that want to label us as something what we are not.

12.Outside of music what are some of your interests?

- We do not think that there is anyone who would be interested in learning about our lives and what we do besides music.

13.Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

-    Thank you for this interview.

Human Serpent/The Eternal Loyalty To Misanthropy/2013 Demo Review

Human  Serpent  are  a  band  from  Greece  that  plays  a  misanthropic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2013  demo  "The  Eternal  Loyalty  To  Misanthropy".

"Mass  Graves  For  Mankind"  begins  with  a  growl  before  the  fast,  raw  and  primitive  black  metal  guitar  riffs  and  drums  kick  in  along  with  some black  metal  screams  and  then  the  music  starts  switching  back  and  forth  between  slow  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  throwing  in  some  blast  beats.

"Whores  Of  The  Coming  Plague"  begins  with  some  melodic  chanting  before  the  grim black  metal  screams  and  fast  and  primitive  guitar  riffs  along  with  some  drums  and  blast  beats  start  kicking  in  and  after  awhile  the  music  slows  down  for  awhile  before  getting  fast  again  and  then  switching  back  and  forth  between slow  and  fast  parts  and  towards  the  end  the  music  starts  adding  in  some  melodic  parts  and  closes  with  the  chants.

Song  lyrics  cover  misanthropic  and  anti  christian  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  with  the  bass  guitars  are  mixed  down  low  in  the  mix.

In  my  opinion  Human  Serpent  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  primitive  misanthropic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  demo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Mass  Graves  For  Mankind".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
