Niphredil are a band from Ecuador that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording goes for an atmospheric and melodic mixture of black and doom metal and this is a review of their self released 2025 ep "Fractures In The Crystal Vault" which will be released on September 9th.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the ep while clean playing can also be heard briefly and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Elements of doom metal are also added into the slower sections of the songs and the vocals add in a mixture of growls and blackened screams.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. Synths can also be heard at times along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style , psychedelic soundscapes are also used briefly as well as the second track also being very long and epic in length and when the music finally speeds up a small amount of blast beats can also be heard.
On this recording Niphredil brings out a very slow, atmospheric and melodic mixture of black and doom metal. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover classical literature and mystical themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Niphredil and if you are a fan of atmospheric and melodic black and doom metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Death By Dreaming". 8 out of 10.
