United Kingdom's Wode have returned with a new recording which shows the music going for a blackened form of heavy metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "Uncrossing The Keys" which will be released in october by 20 Buck Spin.
A very hard and heavy sound starts off the album while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with the music also adding in a lot of traditional metal elements and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Melodies are also added into a lot of the guitar riffing while blast beats can also be heard when the music finally speeds up on a few tracks.. A couple of songs also add in a small amount of keyboards, synths and organs and most of the album also sticks to mostly a slow or mid tempo direction and clean playing is added on the closing song.
On this recording Wode goes for more of a blackened heavy metal style which also also very different from their previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the apocalypse, cosmos, death and occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Wode and if you are a fan of blackened heavy metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Two Crossed Keys" "Transmutation" "Lash Of The Tyrant" and "Dashed on The Rocks". 8 out of 10.
