This is a review of another recording from Italy's Anal Piss Cult which shows the music going for an improvised mixture of black, sludge, doom meta, grindcore and powerviolence and the album was self released in 2024 and called "They Ate The Flesh".
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats. Vocals ae mostly high pitched black metal screams mixed in with a few growls while dark sounding melodies are also added into the guitar riffing at times and elements of doom and sludge metal are added into the slower sections of the recording.
At times the music also captures the brutality of grindcore and powerviolence while all of the recording is also improvised. Throughout the album you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the songs being more shorter then the first recording, shouts and spoken words can also be heard on a few tracks as well as all of the instruments also having a very powerful sound to them and each song also sticks to a heavier direction.
On this recording Anal Piss Cult takes their improvised mixture of black, sludge, doom metal, grindcore and powerviolence into more of a rawer direction. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness and gore themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording form Anal Piss Cult and if you are a fan of improvised black, sludge, doom metal, grindcore and powerviolence, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE 'The Eyes Hide" "Return From The Mud" and "They Are Crushing You". 8 out of 10.
