Kringa/All Stillborn Fires, Lick My Heart/Teratur Possessions/2023 Full Length Review

 

  Austria's  Kringa  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  more  modern  and  traditional  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  album  "All  Stillborn  Fires,  Lick  My  Heart"  which  will  be  released  in  February by  Teratur  Possessions.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.  Some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  sounding  black  metal  screams  and  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.

  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  while  clear  vocals  and  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  on some  of  the  tracks.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats.

  When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  faster  riffing  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling   along  with  one  track  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  keyboards  as  well  as  some  of  the  riffing  also  showing  an  influence  of  post  punk.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Kringa  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  modern  and  traditional  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Across  The  FirmamentStride!"  "Labyrinth  Heirs"  and  "Yoke  of  A  Mirror  Shard".  8  out  of  10.

Kringa/Feast Upon The Gleam/Terratur Possessions/2019 CD Review

  Kringa  are  a  band  from  Austria  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  modern  and  traditional  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019 album  "Feast  Upon  The  Gleam"  which  will  be  released  in  August  by  Terratur  Possessions.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  all  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  You  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  emtal  screams  along  with  some  first  wave  wave  touches  also  being  utilized  at  times.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  At  times  the  vocals  also  add  in  a  semi  melodic  tone  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  more  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  into  some  parts  of  the  music.

  The  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  being  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style.  at  times  the  music  also  has  its  atmospheric  and  ritualistic  moments.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  occultism  and  darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Kringa  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  modern,  traditional  and  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Unwind  the  Gap  Anew!"  and  "Eyers  Of  Stone".  8  out  of  10.

Kringa/Conjuring The Death Of Creation/Broken Limb Recordings/2012 CD Review

  Kringa  are  a  band  from  Austria  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  primitive  form  of  black  metal  and  this is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "Conjuring  The  Death  Of  Creation"  which  was  released  by  Broken  Limb  Recordings.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  old  school,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  with  some  dark  sounding  melodies  being  utilized  at  times  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording  with  the  last  song  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  with  some  deeper  vocals  being utilized  at  times,  while  the lyrics  cover  darkness  and  anti  human  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  old  school,  raw  and  primitive  sound  in  the  true  90's  tradition.

  In  my  opinion  Kringa  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Fuckin  FunerALL"  and  "Eradication  Of  The  Human  Race".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
