Acédia/Égarement/Les Productions Hérétiques/2026 Full Length Review

Acédia  are  a  band  from  Quebec,  Canada  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  goes  for  a  very  progressive  and  avant  garde  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Égarement"  which  will  be  released  in  November  by  Les  Productions  Hérétiques.

A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.  Vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  dissonant  touches  and  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  progressive  and  avant  garde  sounding  while  the  guitar  leads  bring  in  more  of  a  post  metal  style.  During  the  faster  sections  of  the  album  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

On  this  recording  Acédia  takes  their  progressive  and  avant  garde  style  of  black  metal  into  a  more  aggressive  and  darker  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  French  and  cover  misanthropy,  suicide,  alienation  and  apathy  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Acédia  and  if  you  are  a f an  of  progressive  and  avant  garde  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUD E "Sécheresse"  "Les  ruelles  murmurent"  and  "Nuit  sans retour".  8  out  of  10.

Acédia/Fracture/Les Acteurs de L'Ombre Productions/2022 Full Length Review

Acédia  are  a  band  from  Quebec,  Canada  that  plays  a  very  progressive  and  avant  garde  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  album  "Fracture"  which  was  released  by  Les  Acteurs  de  L'Ombre  Productions.

A  very  dark,  heavy  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  along  with  the  vocals  also  being  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams.

When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the songs  more  of  a r aw  feeling.  The  riffs  and  leads  also  add  in  a  good  amount  of  avant  garde  and  progressive  structures  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  music  also  having  its  dissonant  moments  as  well  as  the  music  also  mixing  in  a  decent  amount  of  post  black  metal  elements  to  keep  the  recording  in  a  more  modern  direction  and  growls  can  also  be  heard  on  a  few  tracks.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  French  and  cover  the  apathetic  nature  of  modern  life  and  the  general  acceleration  of  time.

In  my  opinion  Acédia  are  a  very  great  sounding  avant  garde  and  progressive  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "La  fosse"  and  "L'inconnu".  8  out  of  10.
