Cult of Extinction/Nightmare Ascension/Winter Demons/2025 Full Length Review

 

  Germany's  solo  project  Cult  Of  Extinction  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  album  "Nightmare  Ascension"  which  will  be  released  in  2025  by  Winter  Demons.

  A  very  fast,  raw  and  brutal  war  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  bestial  growls  while  the  music  also  mixes  in  a  lot  of  90's  era  death  metal  influences  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  more  of  a  chaotic  style.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  While  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  on  some  of  the  tracks  the  solos  and  leads  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  and  most  of  the  album  sticks  to  a  very  raw  yet  brutal  direction.

  On  this  recording  Cult  of  Extinction  remains  true  to  the  bestial  black/death  and  war  metal  style  he  has  established on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  death  and  human  extinction  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Cult  of  Extinction  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  war  and  bestial  black/death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Blood  Upon  The  Cosmic  Veil"  "Sorrow  of  The  Exalted  One"  and  "All  Cycles  End".  8  out  of  10.

Cult Of Extinction/Ritual In The Absolute Absence Of Light/Iron Bonehead Productions/2019 CD Review

  Cult  Of  Extinction  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  war  and  bestial  black/death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  album  "Ritual  In  The  Absolute  Absence  Of  Light"  which  will  be  released  in  July  by  Iron  Bonehead  Productions.

  War  oriented  drones  start  off  the  album  and  battle  sounds  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  dark,  melodic  and  old  school  style  and  the  music  also  shows  a  great  amount  of  influences  from t he  90's.

  Vocals  are  mostly  black  metal  screams  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  music  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  war  metal  feeling.  Bestial  death  metal  growls  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  as  well  as  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  As  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  horror  movie  samples  can  be  heard  while  the  riffs  also  start  utilizing  more  melody  along  with  the  music  also  bringing  in  a  more  modern  approach  to  the  war  metal  genre  and  one  song  also  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  ambient  style  soundscapes  before  returning  back  to  a  more  brutal  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  dark  force  of  nature  and  propagate  a  total  war  against  the  light. 

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Cult  Of  Extinction  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  bestial  black/death  and  war  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Anti-Monad  Black  Hole  Bomb"  "Possesses  By  A  Servant  Of  Iblis"  and  "Ritual  In  The  Absolute  Absence  Of  Light".  8  out  of  10.

Cult Of Extinction/Black Nuclear Magick Attack/Sentient Ruin Laboratories/2018 EP Review

Cult  Of  Extinction  are  a  solo  project  from  Germany  that  plays  a  mixture  of  war,  black,  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  ep  "Black  Nuclear  Magick  Attack"  which  will  be  released  on  March  30th  by  Sentient  Ruin  Laboratories.

  A  very  powerful  sounding  bass  guitar  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  melodic  guitar  leads  and  bestial  growls  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  leads  up  to  a  very  fast  war  metal  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in  some  more  modern  dissonant  structures.

  Black  metal  screams  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  music  also  mixes  in  the  primal aggression  of  grindcore  along  with  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  after  awhile  the  guitar  leads  also  start  getting  more  chaotic  as  well  as  the  tremolo  picking  when  it  is  utilized  gives  the  songs  a  more  raw  feeling  and  the  music  also  has  its  brutal  moments  and  as  the  ep  progresses a   small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  can  also  be  heard.

  Cult  Of  Extinction  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  the  rawest  and  brutal  styles  of  war,  black,  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  his  own,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  war  and  annihilation  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Cult  Of  Extinction  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  brutal  mixture  of  war,  black,  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Black  Nuclear  Magic  Attack"  and  "Gazing  Upon  The  Eternal  Throne  Of  Death". 8/5  out  of  10.
