Borgarting Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?

ANSWER:

Since then, we have been working on fine-tuning our live set and we’ve also started work on a couple of new

Songs as well.

2.In July you had released a new album, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

Answer:

Well, I think our songwriting has grown on this record it’s more defined it’s more Borgarting.

3.This is also your first release in 4 years, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during that time frame?

Answer:

Well, shortly after releasing our last album, Far, the plague happened, and as you might know that kind off brought everything to a halt. But we went into our cave, and started work on the new material for the new album.

4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored with the new album and also how would you describe your progress as songwriters over the years?

Answer:

We always write the songs in the rehearsal space, together. This time we also collaborated more on the lyrics. We have developed an instinct for what makes a song Borgarting. The rest is up to the listeners to decide.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name' Borgarting'?

Answer:

Well, the name actually started as a joke, a working title but it grew on us and we soon found out that it fits is rather well.

In addition to that its historical significance in Norway makes it cool as hell.

6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

Answer:

The artwork for the album is done by our bassist Dau. And it’s grim, cold and dark like our music.

7.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

Answer:

We have fond memories of our shows with our friends in crest of darkness, as well as our main stage appearances at the Garasjefestival. We haven’t been playing that many live shows lately but judging on the response to the new album, this may change in the future.

8.Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album?

Answer:

We don’t have that much planned yet, we’re doing a gig at the Dödsfest in Lillehammer in October and we’re planning some sort of release party/concert soon as well.

9.The new album is going to be released on 'Dusktone', how did you get in contact with this label?

Answer:

Valerio from Dusktone contacted us shortly after our release of Far, and he wanted to do a deal with us.

Answer:

We are truly humbled and grateful for all the great responses and reviews we have seen and received, from black metal fans everywhere.

Answer:

Well, we’ll find that out when we get there. But we are sure as hell ain’t quitting and you will be hearing more kick ass black metal from Borgarting.

Borgarting/Beist/Dusktone/2023 Full Length Review

Borgarting  are  a  band  from  Norway  that  plays  an  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  album  "Beist"  which  will  be  released  on  July  14th  by  Dusktone.

A  very  dark y et  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  songs  along  with  the  music  also  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  classic  Norwegian  style  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  At  times  the  riffs  also  show  an  influence  of  the  first  wave  era  as  well  as  the  recording  also  giving  an  old  school  style  more  of  a  modern  sound.

When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  finally  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  most  of  the  album  also  sticks  to  a  more  mid  tempo  direction   as  well  as  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  synths.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Norwegian  and  cover  the  nature  of  man.

In  my  opinion  Bogarting  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Allfar"  "{Beist"  and  "Horde".  8 out  of  10.
