Morbid Invocation/Opus I/Sect Entropy/2024 Full Length Review

  Morbid  Invocation  are  a  duo  from  Germany  that  plays  a  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  album  "Opus  I"  which  was  released  by  Sect  Entropy.

  A  very  dark  and  ritualistic  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  brief  use  of  synths  and  chants  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking,  brutal  blast  beats  and  war  metal  elements  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Vocals  are  mostly  bestial  growls  while  the  album  also  brings  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  all  of  the  riffing  being  done  on  power  chords  and  the  music  also  avoids  the  use  of  any  melodies,  solos  or  leads. 

  Morbid  Invocation  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  war  and  bestial  black/death  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  very  brutal  release.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  occultism  and  darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Morbid  Invocation  are  a  very  great  sounding  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  duo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "II"  V"  and  "VII".  8  out  of  10.
