Osgraef are a duo from an unknown location that plays an occult mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "Reveries Of The Arcane Eye" which will be released in March by Amor Fati Productions.
Epic sounding synths start off the album before going into a very fast, raw and brutal war metal direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams mixed in with a few growls while a great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very chaotic, dissonant and melodic style along with some elements of death metal also being utilized at times, the album also has its ritualistic moments and stringed instruments can also be heard briefly.
Osgraef lays a musical style that takes an occult form of black metal and mixes it in with the more chaotic side of war and black metal to create a sound of t heir own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Luciferian, Gnostic, Vampirism, Occultism and Left Hand Path themes.
In my opinion Osgraef are a very great sounding occult mixture of war, black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nox Luciferi, Lober Koth" and "Mystik Lore - Ancient Summoner of osgraef". 8/5 out of 10.
