Csejthe are a band from Canada that plays a very atmospheric, raw and primitive form of medieval black metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Reminiscence" which was released by Eisenwald.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being utilized at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars, as for the synths they are only used briefly on an intro and they bring a dark, atmospheric and dark ambient sound to the recording.
Rhythm guitars range from s low, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding capturing atmosphere without the use of synths or keyboards as well as adding in some melody, doom metal influences and clean playing in the riffing, while the lead guitars when they are utilized are very melodic sounding black metal guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars they are only used briefly and they use finger picking to add more atmospheric and ambient elements to the music.
Vocals range from deep and high pitched black metal screams along with some clean singing chanting, while the lyrics are written in French and cover Medieval, History, Elizabeth Bathory and Occultism, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it with some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Csejthe are a very great sounding atmospheric and melodic medieval black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Reminiscence" "L'antique blason" and "Chant des martyres". RECOMMENDED BUY.
