Non Serviam/Le Coeur Bat/2020 FUll Length Review

  Non  Serviam  are  a  band  from  France  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  sludge,  doom  metal,  grindcore,  industrial,  electro,  experimental,  trip  hop  and  baroque  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Le  Coeur  Bat".

  A  very  avant  garde  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  music  also  gets  very  experimental  at  times. Clear  vocals  and  spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  recording  along  with  some  songs  also  adding  in  clean  playing  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  style.

  Programmed  beats  can  also  be heard  in  some  parts  of  the  recording  and  they  add  in  touches  of  trip  hop  while  the  vocals  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  some  female  vocals  also  being  utilized  briefly.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  along  with  some  melodies  also  being  added  in  the  guitar  riffing.  The  slower  sections  of  the  songs  also  capture  the  heaviness  of  doom  metal  as  well  as  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  electro  sounds.

  When  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  it  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  as  well  as  some  demonic  voices  also  being  brought  into  the  songs  at  times.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  synths  and  elements  of  industrial  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  parts  of  the  album.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  music  also  having  its  psychedelic  moments.  One  of  the  later  tracks  is  an  instrumental  and  as  the  album  progresses  some  of  the  music  also  adds  in  the  brutality  of  grindcore.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  a  mixture  of  French  and  English  and  cover  dark  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Non  Serviam  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  sludge,  doom  metal,  grindcore,  industrial,  electro,  experimental,  trip  hop  and  baroque  music  and  if  you  are  looking  for  something  that  is  very  original,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Le  Coeur  Bat"  "Salem" and  "Je  Contre".8  out  of  10.
