OMITIR are a solo project from Portugal that plays an atmospheric form of black metal with some elements of ambient and folk music and this is a review of their 2020 album "Ode" which will be released in July by Loudriver Records.
Folk music instruments start off the album before adding some melodic guitar solos and leads onto the album. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody along with most of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding while the synths also bring elements of ambient onto the recording. Clean pagan vocals can also be heard on some of the tracks along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them.
One song is an instrumental and also introduces acoustic guitars onto the album along with the songs also add in a decent mixture of both old school and modern influences and when the music finally speeds up a small amount of blast beats can also be heard, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly as the album progresses. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Portuguese and is a concept album based upon paganism, rural tales and nature themes.
In my opinion OMITIR are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal solo project with some elements of folk and ambient music and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ceiva" and "Vera Busca". 8 out of 10.
