Mvrdvrkvltvr are a band from Virginia that plays an occult mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their self released 2020 ep "Mauled By Savagery".
Ritualistic style synths and chants start off the ep before going into more of a fast and raw war metal direction which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. Vocals also bring in a mixture of grim black metal screams and bestial growls and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the music also adds in some 90's influences. Touches of doom/death metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs along with some whispered vocals also being added into some parts of the recording as well as the ritualistic spoken word parts also making a brief return before returning back to a heavier direction.
Mvrdvrkvltvr plays a musical style that takes war and bestial black/death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism and Left Hand Path themes.
In my opinion Mvrdvrkvltvr are a very great sounding occult mixture of war, black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Worthless Sacrifice" and "Strength Is The Only Law". 8 out of 10.
