Svederna are a band from Sweden that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays a very raw and melodic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Hard" which will be released in August by Carnal Records.
A very dark, hard and heavy sound starts off the album while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats. Vocals are mostly grim yet angry sounding black metal screams along with the tracks also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. The riffs also add in a great amount of melody along with the music also having a lot of 90's influences but also keeping it modern at the same time.
Clean playing can also be heard briefly along with some tracks also adding in some elements of black'n'roll as well ad the guitar solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style when they are are utilized and as the album progresses a brief classical guitar instrumental can also be heard before returning back to a heavier direction, some of the riffs also add in touches of punk and thrash metal. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Swedish and cover anti establishment themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Sverderna and if you are a f an of raw and melodic black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Den Arkaiska Rotan" "Fortigen" "Urkvedsljuset" and "Androm Till Skrack Och Varnagel". 8 out of 10.
