Profane Congregation are a solo project from Finland that plays a very misanthropic and satanic form of black metal and this is a review of his 2016 album "Apocalyptic Visions" which was re-issued in 2020 by Morbid Chapel Records.
Dark beats start off the album along with a brief use of ritualistic soundscapes before going into a heavier musical direction. A couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them and blast beats can also be heard during the faster sections of the songs.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the tremolo picking also gives the music more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the songs also adding in a decent amount of 90's influences but also keeping it modern at the same time and as the album progresses a brief use of synths can also be heard and the album also closes with an instrumental.
Profane Congregation plays a style of satanic black metal that is very raw and misanthropic sounding. The production sounds very dark and r aw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Death Worship, Blasphemy, Misanthropy and Apocalyptic themes.
In my opinion Profane Congregation are a very great sounding satanic and misanthropic black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A Vicious Circle" and "The Black Light". 8 out of 10.
