Svarteld are a solo project from Sweden that plays a very old school and melodic form of black metal and this is a review of his 2019 demo "Nederlag for koreset" which was re-issued on cassette in 2020 by Morbid Chapel Records.
Tragic sounding keyboards start off the demo along with a brief use of rain and thunder sounds before going into a heavier direction. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling and the riffs also add in a great amount of melody.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the guitar solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with the music also being very heavily rooted in the 90's Swedish style along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Svateld plays a style of black metal that is very melodic and also goes back to the 90's era of the Swedish bands. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics are written in Swedish and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Svarteld are a very great sounding old school and melodic black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Galder fran sejden" and "Fard mot hemman". 8 out of 10.
