Diabolic Oath are a band from Portland, Oregon that plays a mixture of war, black, death and doom metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Profane Death Exodus" which will be released on June 26th by Sentient Ruin Laboratories.
A very powerful sounding bass guitar starts off the album before going into a very fast war metal direction which also brings in a great amount of blast beats. Vocals are a mixture of bestial growls and high pitched black metal screams while the tremolo picking also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads are done in a very dark yet chaotic style as well as having their melodic moments. Elements of doom/death metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs along with the music also adding in a decent mixture of both old school and modern influences, dark sounding melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing and the closing track is very long and epic in length.
Diabolic Oath plays a musical style that takes war, black, death and doom metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover occultism, rituals, esotericism and blasphemy themes.
In my opinion Diabolic Oath are a very great sounding mixture of war, black, death and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Towards Exalted Coronation" "Apocryphal Manifestations" and "Chalice Of Conquering Blood". 8 out of 10.
