Livlost are a band from Norway that has had music reviewed before in this zine which was done in more of a necro style of black metal but on this recording goes for more of a mixture of dungeon synth and dark ambient and this is a review of their 2020 album "Bratebu" which was released by War Productions.
Synths start off the album and also brings in more of a dungeon synth style while also adding in a variety of many different sounding keys. At times the music also captures a very primitive atmosphere along with the music also going back to the 90's era of the genre and a great portion of the music is instrumental.
Some of the music also reminds me of 80's era fantasy movie soundtracks while a great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length. Spoken word parts can also be heard on some of the songs along with one track also adding in a brief use of female vocals, nature sounds and programmed beats can also be heard in some parts of the recording as well as the music also adding in a great amount of ambient elements.
On this recording Livlost moves away from their black metal beginnings and focuses more on a classic style of dungeon style while also mixing in elements of dark ambient and the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Livlost and while some black emtal fans might not like the new style, I can see this album finding an audience with fans of dark ambient and dungeon synth. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Pentagram" "Voices Of Darkness" and "Cannibal". 8 out of 10.
