Italy's Comando Praetorio have returned with a new recording which shows the music going for an anti monotheistic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 ep "Sovvertire la Tirannia della Luce" which will be released in April by ATMF Records.
Atmospheric soundscapes and synths start off the ep which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Both of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing and all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them.
Chants can also be heard briefly while the vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams which also have their high pitched moments.. The faster sections of the songs also adding in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling as well as the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Clean playing can also be heard briefly along with the spoken word parts also giving the music more of a ritualistic feeling when they are added onto the recording as well as the music also more more rooted in a modern black metal style. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Italian and cover denying Abrahamic Monotheism and taking refuge in the shadow of the night sky, patronized by the Indo-European, Asuric and Uranian dieties.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Comando Praetorio and if you are a fan of atmospheric black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Ritorna il Buio dell’Origine Uranica". 8 out of 10.
