Obsequiae/Suspended In The Brume Of Eos/Bindrune Recordings/2001 CD Review

Obsequiae are a band from Minnesota that plays a a medieval form of dark/black metal and this is a review of their 2011 album "Suspended In The Brume Of Eos" which was released by Bindrune Recordings.

Drums range from slow to mid  paced drumming with some fast playing and blast beats, while the bass playing has a very strong and powerful tone with some heavy riffing.

Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid  paced riffs that combine black metal with dark metal as well as adding a lot of melody and some doom metal influences that gives the music a dark and haunting medieval feel, while the lead guitars are very dark and melodic sounding guitar solos, as for the acoustic guitars they bring a classical music and pagan feel to the music.

Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics cover Paganism and nature styled themes, as for the production it has a very powerful and heavy feel to it.

In my opinion Obsequiae are a very good melodic dark metal band, and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Altars Of Moss" "Suspended In The Brume Of Eos" "The Wounded Fox" and "Cabin Lights". RECOMMENDED BUY.
