Forgotten Deity are a 1 man band from Poland that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal with elements of dungeon synth and dark ambient and this is a review of his 2013 album "Silent Forest" which was released by Le Crepusculr du Soir".
The album starts out with an intro that is in the more dungeon synth style along with elements of dark ambient as well as being very long and after the intro the album goes into a more atmospheric yet ambient sound before adding in slow black metal guitars and drum programming and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
When we get more into the album the music remains instrumental for the first few songs and sticks to an atmospheric and ambient style of black metal with the music alternating between soft and heavy parts and sticking to a slower direction and at times melodic guitar solos and leads are added into the music and when we get into the fourth song black metal vocals are finally added into the recording and they have a very dark, deep and grim sound to them.
With this album Forgotten Deity play a very atmospheric form of black metal that is also influenced by dark ambient and dungeon synth and the music is very dark and epic while also bringing in a medieval atmosphere at times.
Song lyrics cover nature, winter and fantasy themes, while the production has a very dark and powerful sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording along with some of the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Forgotten Deity are a very great sounding mixture of atmospheric black metal, dark ambient and dungeon synth and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Beauty of Nature" "Forest Silence" and "Land Of Our Fathers". 8/5 out of 10.
