T.O.M.B are a 1 man band from Pennsylvania that plays a mixture of occult black metal, noise and ambient and this is a review of his 2014 compilation album "Pennhust/Xesse" which was released by Crucial blast and contains 2009 demo and 2011 ep.
The album starts out with dark avant garde sounds, noises and drones which also bring a ritualistic and occult feeling to the music and after the first track which is more than 10 minutes, drums are added in along with the noises getting more harsh in sound and when we get more into the album elements of dark ambient are added into the recording along with black metal being done in a more industrial manner and after awhile melodic female vocals and spoken word samples are brought into the music briefly.
When we go into the second half of the album the music takes more of a dark/black ambient approach along with some tortured chants and experimental drones while also keeping around elements of noise and after awhile you can hear some black metal in the vocals along with some spoken word parts along with some evil sounding synths and on the last track melodic female vocals are again brought in briefly.
With these 2 recording's T.O.M.B created some dark, ritualistic and occult music with the first one being black industrial noise and the second one being black dark/ambient and the music on both of these albums are very original and experimental sounding.
Song themes cover Luciferian, Goetic, Black Magick and Necromancy themes, while the production has a very dark, ritualistic and evil sound along with some of the tracks being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion T.O.M.B are a very great sounding mixture of occult black metal, ritual, noise and dark ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Primevil Sorcery" "Goetic Xaos" "Silence Is Suffering" and "Luciferian Homage". 8 out of 10.
