Malauriu are a band from Italy that plays a very raw and old school form of black metal and this is a review of their 2014 ep "Presagi Di Morte" which was released by Melqart productions.
The ep starts out with nature sounds and a dark yet heavy sound and after the intro the music goes into a fast and raw old school black metal direction along with grim vocals and blast beats as well as all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and they also bring in a mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
As the ep progresses melody and atmospheric keyboards are added into certain sections of the recording while the main focus is on the fast and raw black metal elements that dominate the recording and the ep closes with an avant garde sounding instrumental..
Malaurai are another band that sticks to the fast and old school ways of raw black metal and while it does not have much in the way of originality, it is still very well executed black metal and played in the true tradition as well as ignoring modern trends.
Song lyrics are written in their native tongue and cover death and human misery, while the production has a very raw and old school sound to it while you can still hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Malauriu are a very great sounding raw, old school black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Oltre la Soglia' and "Figlio della Croce". 8 out of 10.
