Dead Woman's Ditch are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a mixture of black, doom and sludge metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Seo-Mere-Saetan" which was released by Third I Rex.
A very dark and heavy doom metal sound starts off the album along with some melodic guitar leads while the vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams and the riffs also bring in a decent amount of tremolo picking and angry sludge styles shouts are also used at times.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length while a decent amount of melody can also be heard in the guitar riffing and at times the music also brings in elements of stoner rock along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard along with the music also bringing in more of a raw black metal feeling and as the album progresses melodic vocals are added onto the recording while all of the tracks sound very different from each other and psychedelic elements are also used briefly and both spoken word samples and Gregorian chants are added onto the closing track.
Dead Woman's Ditch plays a musical style that takes black, doom and sludge metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover darkness and horror themes.
In my opinion Dead Woman's Ditch are a very great sounding mixture of black, doom and sludge metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Failed To Rot" and "Crusade". 8 out of 10.
