Holokauston are a solo project from India that plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of his 2017 demo "HOST" which was released by The Dark Thursday.
Ambient style synths start off the demo along with some touches of classical and after the intro the music gets a lot more heavier while also introducing grim yet high pitched black metal screams onto the recording along with the music being heavily rooted in the 90's second wave tradition.
During the faster sections of the songs a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs a more raw feeling while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with one of the tracks being very long and epic in length.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they remain very true to a very raw and old school tradition while clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and the demo demo progresses the riffs start utilizing more melody and there is also a cover of Darkthrone's "Transylvanian Hunger" before closing the demo with an outro.
Holokauston plays a style of black metal that is very raw and traditional in t he 90's second wave tradition, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Greek Tragedy, Philosophy, Nihilism and Omnicide themes.
In my opinion Holokauston are a very great sounding raw black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Creation, An Omnicide" and "Nyctophiliac Blood Of The Darker Woods". 8 out of 10.
